Snipperclips - Cut it out, together! is a lovely game, and was a deserved launch success on the Switch eShop. Developed by the small UK studio SFB Games and published by Nintendo, it's set to have a second life as a retail release with the upcoming Plus edition, with that version's extra levels and modes also being sold as DLC for those that have the original download.
One slightly odd oversight in the original, the sort of missing feature common in games that arrive on a new console's launch day, was support for the Joy-Con Grip and Pro Controller. It's a game that needs to be enjoyed in co-op and taps into the idea of taking a Joy-Con each, but those with extra controllers haven't had the luxury of using larger pads for a more comfortable experience.
Well, that oversight will be fixed soon - Nintendo’s Assistant Manager of Product Development Todd Buechele said as much to IGN:
We actually have always wanted to support them, even from the beginning. It was just something that we ended up having to shelve at the time, and that was actually one of the key targets when we looked at Snipperclips Plus.
It will actually be a default in Snipperclips Plus, and then we are releasing a patch for Snipperclips next week that will bring Pro Controller and Grip support to all players who have already downloaded the game.“It’s a free update, so that capability will be there very soon.
Snipperclips Plus is due out on 10th November, so it won't be long before the new content is available; we'll be sure to check it out and let you know what we think.

Adult sized hands huh...
Cool!
Not sure why they didn't have this to begin with.
This was the only reason I never bought it and I'm still baffled as to why it's taken this long, surely just enabling controllers would be a very basic step in development?
I've seen some people 'boycotting' the game on account of its lack of Pro Controller support, which seemed a bit extreme (as well as churlish).
It wasn't like the original game demanded the precision and performance that the Pro Controller brings; you just waddle around chopping bits out of each other, which was quite easy even with something as dinky as a single Joy-Con. People were really missing out on a great game.
However, it was definitely an oversight to leave it out, so I'm glad the game is (eventually) getting more control options.
It seems like a funny thing to have 'shelved', as presumably implementing it would have been a simple case of remapping buttons. I mean, the fact that Zelda has received DK Bongo support before Snipperclips received Pro Controller support is baffling.
Anyway, a small issue in every sense. One not worth boycotting the game over, but equally one with seemingly little reason to exist in the first place.
Real gamers know that crippling hand discomfort is just another layer of challenge.
It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever that any game that supports sideways Joy-Con controls wouldn't also support the Pro Controller. :/
@Ryu_Niiyama The original Xbox controller was a true monstrosity. It looked like a tumor with buttons on it. I don't understand how anyone could have signed off on that controller design...
@Stu13 Basically, you have to tell your hands to git gud at gittin' smol.
At last! I can finally add this into the short stack of 3-player games that I can play with both my roommates that's not Mariokart or Tetris. It's no Secret of Mana, but it's something.
A lot of people will finally be able to play the 3 & 4 players levels without buying a 2nd set of joy-cons ! Neat !
"For those of us with adult-sized hands"
And some of us have giant-sized hands. Making the Joy-Con-s feel like muck. They still have other problems too.
@carlos82 You'd think so, but even NSMBU lacked Wii U Pro Controller support at launch.
Great news! I really don't like the JoyCons. Too small, and my left one struggles to connect and often won't register a right tap when navigating in-game menus. I only use them for multiplayer World of Goo.
@sillygostly it was probably to promote split joy-con multiplayer for those who wouldn't give it a chance otherwise (some people don't share the joy). what better way than to make a must-play game with that as its only control option
FINALLY!
Worked fine with a single joycon but this is good news. I guess this includes support for the master race controller, AKA Gamecube controller.
Yes! No more getting stuck when opening the game with a pro controller! I also hope they fix the slight hiccup in the framerate. For some reason Snipper clips doesn't run at a perfect 60 fps...
Good to see, though bafflingly late. The Joy Cons are absolutely fine and it's a very good game but it's good to have options.
