One of the pleasant surprises to come out of E3 this year was Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions; we've seen a couple of excellent Mario & Luigi games already on 3DS, but the revival of the first in this particular series is certainly welcome.
In addition to updated visuals it'll also feature the 'Bowser's Minions' story mode, which looked fun but a little throwaway during the Treehouse E3 demonstrations; perhaps it'll be more enticing when played in full. In any case, it's sure to be a tempting release when it lands on 6th October.
Though its release is still a little while off, Nintendo of Europe has unleashed a rather charming 'launch trailer' to show it off.
Are you planning to pick this up?

I've played the original, but never finished it. So I will pick this up for my birthday probably.
Aside from that, I think it looks better than the original. I just love the art style. Maybe the expressions aren't as overdone as they were, but still. Love it.
I never realised hitting your brother with a massive hammer was such a useful way to solve problems. Going to try this at the weekend.
From what i've heard, they have changed a load of characters around compared to the original so to be honest. Not going to bother
Can't wait to play this!
This will be the first major first party retail release on 3DS that I intentionally sit out. I'm trying to wean myself off the system, and this is a test of sorts. I think I will have an easy time skipping this one, due to the fact that it's a remake and foolishly does not run in stereoscopic 3D.
I hope they remake the original Paper Mario or Legend of the Seven Stars for Switch someday if this game sells well.
Seems a little weird to spend time on completely remaking the graphics of a GBA game for 3DS, but still keep it entirely 2D. Though if they can sell it, then I guess it makes sense.
Still looks just as hilarious as it always was.
I always loved Cackletta. EEYAH-HA-HA-HA!!
This is one of my favorite games. But I’m already picking up Layton’s Mystery Journal that week. I’ll get it sometime
@Lumine
They have got rid of all the different characters and made them in to the generic Koopas and Goombas.
We have been discussing it in the forum:
https://www.nintendolife.com/forums/3ds/mario_and_luigi_superstar_saga_dx?start=40
Fawful is in it, and that's all the reasons I need to buy it.
@dystome how else do you expect to surfboard?
@Bread-Not-Toast Do you have it?
Do you have fury?
Or at least mustard flavored doom?
I’ll stick to the original. This honestly looks pretty bad - like it’s soul has been lost. The original was probably in my top 3 favorite games for GBA.
When I knew about this release and the fact that it won't have autostereoscopic 3D I took an oath to never buy it. But although I still think it's a f*cking shame they increasingly release games without this wonderful feature -and yet it's possible to turn it off if you don't like it, no need to release a 2DS system, for God's sake-, lately this game it's been growing on me, and if I can get it for 25 € -and I can, because I have a discount-, I'll probably bow my head. Because the simple truth is I don't own the original and if I want it complete with its box and booklet for my GBA it will be more expensive and, let's face it, I prefer playing 3DS or Switch nowadays.
Getting this because I never played the original and my kids want to play it too. I don't care that the toads, koopas and goombas are generic.
The soundtrack is pretty awful. Yoko is a great composer but doesn't really handle remixes very well.
I still dont like the U.S. cover. Everyone else gets cover based on the international release of the original and we get a cover based on the bland and muted jp gba cover.
@Bunkerneath
All according to plan.
I hate it when this kind of prediction proves to be correct. Oh well, the game will rock regardless.
Dang it, The European box art is SO much better than the NA version.
"when it lands on 6th October"
It actually landed six days ago. Some anon posted a leaked *.cia archive of the American version of the game. Apparently works well on B9S+Luma. So yeah, while we're still watching trailers, others have already finished the game. =P
I played the original, but could never beat the endboss. The remake looks awesome in the new artstyle, I'll buy it...
On second thought: @AlexSora89,
That's really sickening that they have thrown out all the special toads. Should I still support this?!
@Bunkerneath,
Same with the Koopa's?! Miyamoto, are you out of your mind? I think this site should deduce at least one point when they are reviewing this because of this scheme!!
I was excited until @Bunkerneath set me straight. SO not bothering with this now. Thanks for helping me dodge that bullet. I used to play Mario RPGs to get away from the same dull monotony of the platformers.
@Henmii
Well, yeah. The first game was already a masterpiece, but it really could use a "Dream Jam" (get it?) coat of paint so to speak. And the result definitely paid off. A few unique character designs were lost in the resulting purge but it's a good compromise considering the game we're getting.
Also, mild spoiler, but now we know what the main instrument in Bowser's Castle was supposed to be: violins. As in, Yoko Shimomura violins. That alone is worth getting the game for.
