Who doesn't love a good old ninja game? Rising Star Games has confirmed that it will be bringing Ninja Shodown to the Switch in the not-too-distant future. To celebrate it has released a gloriously ’90s inspired live-action trailer for the game, which you can view above.
Developed by UK-based studio Bitmap Bureau, the game takes the form of a multiplayer arena slash 'em up; here are some key features about the game:
- Intense local multiplayer action for one to four players, either competitively or co-operatively… you choose!
- Six distinct game modes – Last Ninja, Battle, Coin, Crown, Arcade and Infinite – and five unique locations – Temple, Dojo, Downtown, Museum and Area 88 – each with their own gameplay features
- Use a range of deadly ninja (and not-so-ninja) weapons to destroy anyone who gets in your way
- Awesome stereo techno soundtrack by Matt Gray… feel the retro vibe!
Let us know if you plan to pick this one up when it backflips over to the Switch.

Hmmm... yes, I will take this on.
**throws Ninja Star at TV**
That can't be good...
Expected not to be interested but I turn out to be interested. If it plays as well as it looks to be fun I'm up for it.
Apparenty it was not enough to take the latter half of the name from Samurai Shodown, even the logo is eerily similar...
I like the advert, except they picked up Mega drive controllers, if someone could get one of those to work on a switch i might consider it
Lol the blue ninja had a shotgun! 😂 Looks like a fun game, will probably wait for a review. The 80's baby 90's kid in me is a sucker for just about any game with ninjas. My avatar explains the ninja in me! 🏯
lol did he really wreck that tv? 😂
@Tuulenpoika They also took one game mechanic from Samurai Shodown. Shown very briefly in the video at 0:51.
@Late Oh yeah, the weapon clash is there.
But not counting the lifting stuff from Samurai Shodown so evidently, the game itself looks really good and is a great fit for Switch. Have to keep an eye on it. And the trailer was pretty entertaining, despite all the dabbing involved.
@Tuulenpoika "And the trailer was pretty entertaining, despite all the dabbing involved."
Yup, that. A fun trailer for sure, but I really don't get the need to reference all these real life trending stuff and emulate it in video games, cartoons etc. like it's a significant part of our culture.
Just a few minutes ago I saw a stroller ad on TV with a new born child narrating it; the thing is it kept saying things like "let's take a selfie... and off we go!" and stuff like that.
I mean, it's annoying, other than gratuitious.
Do we really need dabs in a ninja game? Do we really need an ad depicting a selfie-obsessed infant?
Do we really need a rabbit in a princess guise taking selfies? Do we really need all the hipster shenanigans going on in games like Watch_Dogs 2?
So... that was a thing that happened.
Yep, that trailer and the game contained dabbing.
YES
To many good looking games!
But I would rather have more games, then having a slow trickle of game releases that we had with Wii U.
Now that's how you play a multiplayer game!!! Not online bollox lol
This actually looks pretty cool, i wish they just made a side scrollere though and pretty poor stealing the Samurai Showdown logo.
Pass for me. I do want to play the turtles arcade game now though.
