Famed accessory maker 8Bitdo is releasing special wireless controllers for the SNES Classic Edition.
The pads are available in two designs - North American SNES (purple buttons) and Super Famicom / Euro SNES (four-colour buttons) - and each comes with a 2.4G wireless adapter.
The internal rechargeable battery means you don't need to rely on AAs, and you can use the pad to access the console's home screen by pressing down and select, which is handy.
The controllers ship on December 10th. Will you be placing a pre-order? Let us now with a comment.

Pretty...!
Thank God! I know they’re going for the complete ‘classic’ feel, but that short wire is overkill, they shoulda been wireless anyway.
Might pick up 2. While the cables do reach my couch the issue is they only reach with a small bit of give to spare if I am sitting upright but these are perfect for when I am lying back. Unless I decide to get the cable extenders
Wouldn't the regular 8bitdo SNES controllers work with the NES Mini receivers though?
@Jack_Goetz As I recall, the receivers are actually their own Android powered devices.
The controllers with a micro USB connection can have new firmware flashed to it, but I don't know if the receives have the same luxury.
@RupeeClock Just tried my SF30 and NES Mini receiver with the SNES Mini. Unfortunately even with the most up to date firmware the X and Y buttons double up as B and A. Guess I'll have to wait for 8bitdo to update the receiver's firmware again...
I wonder if firmware updates will allow for the 'Down + Select' menu option to work with existing SFC30 controllers and the NES receiver...
I loaded up firmware 1.05_beta0 on my NES Classic 8bitdo wireless receiver, and it now works 100% with the Wii U Pro Controller. All 6 buttons, start and select, even the home menu button takes you back to the home menu screen.
Think I'm good, actually.
@BionicDodo @Jack_Goetz
As stated by Bionoc the NES Receiver from 8bitdo is not compatible with anything for SNES Classic.
But if you downgrade to firmware 1.05_beta0 it will work with Wii U Pro Controller, even down to the home button taking you to the home menu
@BionicDodo That already works, it's just the X, Y and should buttons that aren't mapped correctly.
Not on firmware v1.06 anyway.
@JaxonH Thanks, I'll give it a go later on.
@JaxonH Just paired the Wii U Pro controller with the SNES Mini using firmware 1.05_beta0 and it works perfectly, thanks.
Shame that the D-pad on the SF30 doesn't work in the games on this firmware though, despite all the buttons being mapped correctly now. I guess 8bitdo with release a proper firmware update in the next couple of months though, alongside these new controllers.
I really don't get why these Third Party controllers don't include a home button. I can understand it for Nintendo, because they want maximum accuracy, but if I buy a wireless controller, I don't want to get up every time to change the game.
I'm starting to feel like there are TOO MANY controller options now.
Do I go with a dedicated NES/SNES mini controller, go for a more versatile BT controller with a separate dongle but spend double the amount, or try for a dongle that allows me to use existing BT controllers like my Wii U Pro or PS3 controllers?
I'm leaning towards the last option, but boy, do I like those homages to the SNES controller.
No home button and a receiver that only plugs into wii-shaped ports? That's a hard sell - looks like they support micro usb connection so might work on pc too which makes them a bit more appealing. I just don't see the point investing so heavily into the snes mini (without hacking it to increase the library) when you can emulate and use whatever controllers you want.
Edit: Missed that it can access home menu with a combination of inputs, that's a nice addition, wonder if the stock controllers can do that.
If you still have the NES one you can just use that instead, it has everything on it already.
Most def will be getting the SF30, I was going to go for the model with analog sticks but it's not needed.

I’m kinda aggravated by this. I have the other controller they sell that looks identical to the SNES game pad. They updated it to work with the switch and the NES mini so why not the SNES? I connected it to the SNES and it connects no problem but certain buttons don’t work. Seems like an easy firmware update to me.
@Pupito
I'm talking about the SNES Mini.
If you have the NES Classic 8bitdo wireless receiver, and use it on the SNES Classic, if you load firmware 1.05_beta0 the Wii U Pro Controller will work. The home button also takes you back to the menu.
I have a mini receiver. Will the 105_beta0 firm allow me to use the 8bitdo controllers with it, or do I need to wait for firmware updates?
8bitdo has firmware v1.07 up now, it's supposed to add SNES support
@StarDust4Ever @th3r3ds0x In case you missed it 8bitdo have updated the firmware for the receiver to work with the SF30 and SN30 controllers:

@Jack_Goetz that's sooner than I expected. Awesome!
