Tetris is one of the world's most famous video games, and has been the subject of hit singles, documentaries and - of course - more sequels and spin-offs than you can shake a stick at.
One of the more recent applications of Tetris is this new commercial from UK supermarket chain Sainsbury's, which shows a table being laid for a hearty feast. The plates of food drift down from the top just like in the famous Russian puzzler, and to cap it all off, the music and sound effects from the iconic Game Boy version are used.
While gamers of a certain age will make the connection instantly, we wonder what younger viewers make of this advert without the proper context - it probably looks a bit silly. Still, it's a neat use of a famous game, and more proof that video games have fully invaded the cultural lexicon.

That's was awesome! Reminds me of when I worked stocking in the back of Walmart and we had to make all the cardboard boxes magically fit in the teeny spaces provided.
I knew my years of tetris would pay off.
The "What about the fish?" part got me xD
Reminded me a lot of this

More of these, please!
Well sure, everyone knows that grocery stores and tetris go together like a good PB and J. Pro cashiers like me remember their PLU codes by seeing if they make the shape of a tetris peice on the key board.
Hmm...? Just me?
O_o That was really strange and hectic.
