Midboss have recently announced that they plan to bring their mature cyberpunk adventure 2064: Read Only Memories to the Switch eShop in 2018. It's been well received on PC and PS4 to date and is also headed to Xbox One soon, but perhaps it will be best suited to the Switch's portable hardware so you can puzzle-solve on the move.
To give you a flavour of what the game entails, here's the synopsis for your consideration:
Neo-San Francisco, 2064 AD. Your life as a struggling journalist is interrupted by the world’s first sapient machine, a ROM (Relationship and Organizational Manager) named Turing. Together, you and the quirky robot will encounter a colorful cast of locals and overcome challenges as you uncover the city’s secrets behind the overlapping futures of technology and humanity. 2064: Read Only Memories is a new cyberpunk adventure that will take you on a journey of puzzle-solving and exploring as you investigate the mysterious world and characters of Neo-San Francisco.
Inspired by classics like Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Father and Snatcher, 2064: Read Only Memories is a retrofuturistic take on the point-and-click adventure genre that features a rich mature narrative and unique gameplay challenges hidden within the beautiful interactive pixel scenes. The deeper you delve into the life of your missing friend, the further you get entangled into this tale about the dark side of technology.
Can you survive in Neo-SF? Or will the mystery go unsolved?
Let us know if you are itching to dive into this cyberpunk adventure next year with a comment below.

Are we sure the Switch can handle this? It came out in January on other platforms so it's going to another indie port that's very late.
Fun game, reminiscent of SNATCHER, but the dev-team are asses. At least they half-apologized for being bootyholes; after their user reviews started tanking, of course.
Looks like a fun little game. I'd pick it up in a sale, definately.
I played this a while back. I really liked it, if you're into adventure/point and click type games you'll be right at home with this.
Looks fun enough, but the ironic 2D 8 Bit stuff needs to stop, it's had more than enough time in the limelight.
Think maybe we should be focusing on how to advance gaming, not trying to pull ourselves back in time. Too much of that in the world in general right now. Let's advance.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE And? The more the better, I say. Late or otherwise.
@HappyMaskedGuy I disagree entirely. Many gamers – including those of us who were playing videogames after school in the early eighties – love 2D games with 8 and 16bit style visuals. Some for nostalgic reasons, others because they simply dig that particular style. Take the likes of Hyper Light Drifter and Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery as just two examples of retro visuals that are profoundly beautiful. Besides, many indie outfits simply lack the resources to work on 3D projects and high-poly assets. Instead they use the tool sets available to them to innovate in different ways. More power to them, I say.
Just because some corners of the industry are focusing on retro style games doesn't mean others aren't advancing the industry in new and exciting ways. Heck, you're commenting on a Nintendo Life article, are you telling me that Nintendo aren't advancing the industry?
In an ever evolving marketplace that's seemingly growing by the day, I'd wager there's plenty of room for games of all shapes and sizes. Saying otherwise is tantamount to videogame fascism!
@judicious_echoes What did they do?
@HappyMaskedGuy Well now it becomes a discussion on what is meant by advancing the industry in this regard. Are we talking about visuals? Because we seem to be there with Xbox One X and PS4 Pro. However, we've seen time and time again that realistic looking graphics doesn't necessarily translate to a fun to play or entertaining game.
Great news! The more high quality indies the merrier!
Getting major Dune (PC) vibes, and that is no bad thing.
@Xilef Went on spiels about, if you voted for certain US political parties, or believed certain things, that you can nibelsnarf off/you were a Nazi/fascist/whatever else. Tanked their user-rating on Metacritic and a few other aggregate sites, but doubt it hurt their bottom-line much, aside from the a significant portion of their user-base apparently becoming Nazis/fascists/whatever else, overnight.
@HappyMaskedGuy How is this ironic? Maybe the developers are just comfortable with the 8-bit style, it takes talent to do sprite work these days, and this year so far for indie has been the 3d and hand drawn era, ex: Hollow Knight, Wonderboy, Rime, Yooka Laylee, Thumper ect, especially for the Switch. Besides VR is what's hot on the indie scene these days. Usually when indie games are 8-bit Esq it's to invoke the style of the games that inspired said game
I think the Nintendo audience at large will appreciate this.
I was very smitten with the aesthetics and the future vibe myself.
The writing can be a little wordy and hamfisted, but I'd be hard pressed to find more than a handful of modern video games that aren't guilty of this.
@xxAcesHighxx When did I say Nitendo weren't advancing the industry? They are pretty much the only company who is! I love Nintendo for that very reason. I am still a believer in motion controls too!
I was talking about all of these 8 bit style titles. Im not talking about visuals only by the way.
@0upshroom7 Ironic because we live in a world with near miraculous technological potential, yet here we are- throwing twigs around in the 80's.
Just kidding. I just want some new ideas. Not pretending I still listen reside in an 8 bit era.
@HappyMaskedGuy Alright I get you, I guess I'm just not burnt out on that style yet, but sometimes games suffer when they go 3d I think it just depends on how you want to tell your story, not to say going from 8-bit to cg isn't bad just not many companies have pulled it off
@UmbreonsPapa
When I think about progress in video games I think more about more intelligent A.I and the ability to create deeper more complex systems more easily.
For example have you ever heard of a game called Dwarf Fortress? It's not an easy game to get into, I've only played a little of it but what I've seen makes me think it's a game ahead of it's time.
It basically creates an entire world with an entire history, factions, events, nations, monsters and thousands (maybe more) of unique named citizens all with their own histories. I'm probably doing it an injustice with my short description though.
Of course the graphics are all ascii, which is why it can be so detailed.
They had me at point-and-click
Another game I wanted to play on my Vita that I can enjoy on my Switch instead.
Oh, looks pretty sweet.
This is a great game. I played it recently, so if you're a fan of witty dialogue filled adventure games, I'd recommend it.
I would like to remind people that this is one of the developers that threatened to pull support from Nintendo after they fired the "escort" that worked for them.
We've got another sad imposter trying to pretend they're me. I am the one and only original.
This person has completely copied my username and avatar. Well almost, instead of capital "I"'s they've used lower case "L"'s to try and fool people. This isn't the first time someone has done this. It's probably the same person as before, I can't imagine there's many crazy obsessed people out there. They're trying to pass themselves off as me and people don't notice the difference. They only joined today. Click on their name and you'll see what I mean.
@gortsi @xxAcesHighxx @AlexOlney Only the above comment and the first comment in this story are me. The rest that look like me, have instead been made by some sad weirdo.
@ecco6t9 Oh that was them that's funny.
I love these. I would definately be interested
@judicious_echoes
Sounds more to me like they took a stand for justice and made their opinion known in a very dark time for US Politics.
@marandahir Opinions are fine, and they're more-than-allowed to have them; targeting and insulting a significant portion of their existing fan-base over differences in opinion is contemptible, though. If they wanted to attack a platform, or contrary figure, that's understandable, and common, but it runs counter to discourse when lashing out at supporters.
I'm Lebanese, and my wife is Korean, both college-educated and having served/serving in the military. That I feel I'm almost forced to say that in an age where identity-politics is front-and-center, so as to not be labeled as "just another white male" (as if that's somehow a pejorative), is frustrating enough. What's even more wonderful is our being considered Nazis by those that would consider themselves as political "opponents," most-everywhere on social media. By mostly, and I can only assume given their views, upset children who've never stepped foot outside Potemkin tourist traps, if not America at all, and whose understanding of the world runs more on good-feels than pragmatism and something of a natural order. I'd rather not see this ham-fisted politicizing manifest further in a hobby I've enjoyed since the eighties, and take a good deal of enjoyment from. Especially not so after-the-fact, and mealy-mouthed apologies reluctantly given because they're newly concerned over backlash in regards to sales due to assumptions made about the demographics of their audience, versus any actual principle you might want to attribute to them.
A dark time in American politics was the last decade-and-change of foreign policy heralded mostly by the previous administration, that left hundreds of thousands dead through inaction, subversion, regime-change by those hostile to the West, and support of dissident and fanatical fundamentalist groups. It's borne witness to the largest mass-migration of peoples in history, of which a mostly-divested foreign body is now suffering from population displacement, and rapid cultural shifts due to it, and most-likely a vast change in ethnic identity over through the fault of being both 1.) liberal-minded, and 2.) comparatively affluent. That's something worth condemning, not a leader or sense of nationalism that puts the interests of a nation first, regardless of colour or creed of its citizenry.
