Koei Tecmo is supporting the Switch with two of its biggest franchises - Nobunaga's Ambition and Romance of the Three Kingdoms - and has just released some lovely trailers to promote them.
Nobunaga's Ambition: Sphere of Influence and Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIII aren't entirely new releases and have previously been available on consoles like the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PS Vita, but they will make welcome additions to the Switch's 2017 lineup - especially in Japan where both series have quite a large following.
It's not known if either of these games will make their way to the west, but the region-free nature of the Switch means that if you're able to read Japanese, you could always import. Let us know what your plans are by posting a comment below.

During the Switch Presentation I saw what I thought was Dynasty Warriors.

I'm interested, for anyone with experience is it possible to play games like these without knowing any Japanese?

Romance of the three kingdoms is one of the best series of games all time.

Two fantastic looking trailers there, but I'm not seeing much gameplay footage, if any. And as I don't quite have Japanese down yet I think I'm gonna have to wait for a localisation.
@Megas I ain't bothered by region lock but by the MASSIVE amount of text that these games have. My japanese ain't that fluent

Both these games have already been localized in the west as PS4 exclusives.
They'd be fools to not release in the west when they're already putting them on Switch and already have finished localizations.

@dparmar005 : I strongly, strongly doubt it given the text-heavy nature of these games and the fact that these will be aimed at older audiences who are considerably proficient in Japanese (Pokémon games for instance, at least give you the option of playing the game with Hiragana/Katakana only, which is ideal for novices in Japanese literacy or Kanji for those with advanced literacy).
You'd best hold out for a localised version, or stick to importing Japanese games with simpler, more straightforward styles of gameplay.
I wonder if these will ever make it to the West. I would certainly pick them up if not for the language barrier.
Given that both games have fully localised English releases on PS4 and PC, I am cautiously optimistic that K-T America/Europe will release them in the west, and I hope they do. Strategy titles like these are perfect for the Switch, and any excuse to re-play Sphere of Influence is welcome - it's one of my favourite games for the PS4, and one of the few reasons I keep mine around.
Not two games that I'm interested in, but glad to know that the Switch will actually have some support this time around.

It would be sweet if Nintendo allowed 'mods' for the Switch, and then we could make and download fan translations, making imports all the better!
I have NA currently but I am willing to triple dip for portability.

Hmm. Haven't played these series in a LONG time. Played ROT3K II on SNES tons of hours back in the day. I'll have to check reviews on more recent entries to see how they are now. I do like part IV which is on VC too.

Well, not interested at all with Dynasty Warrior series but I play some Japanese NDS games. I can read, write and understand all Hiragana and Katakana but still struggle with some Kanji letters. I'm still newbie in Japanese grammar and vocabulary but understand some basic Japanese words like Item (pronounced in Katakana AiTeMu), New Game (Usually written in either Hiragana or Katakana HaJiMeKaRa), Attack (TaTaKaU), Magic (MaHoU), Skill (WaZa), Yes (Hai), No (iie), Wait !! (Matte !!), "Wow..!" (Ara..! for woman, ""Are...! common), Too Bad (Zannen na / Zannen desu ne), "It can't be ! / Impossible ! (Sonna...!), I'm so excited ! (Wakuwaku da na !), Of course !(Mochiron !), I don't know ( Wakarimasen), etc.
Well, have fun with Japanese language. There is nothing wrong to learn some foreign languages.
Dear Nintendo, you need to do exactly one thing to get me to buy a Switch: come out with a Rogue Squadron: Rogue One game.

@Nintenjoe64 There is an Uncharted Waters Online, but it's not by KT. It's okay but it's not UW2, so a full on Uncharted Waters 3 would be awesome.
The other thing I want is Genghis Khan 3, and maybe a Warriors title based on it, with characters from all over Asia, Europe and North Africa.
Yay more old ports no one will really pick up.

I've been interested in these games but never got round too playing them I may give them ago on the Switch.

I watched Romance of Three Kingdom as anime movie. It was 2 parts. Amazing movie with strong story and captivating music!
Things are looking better already. Within a few days after the presentation, we're just getting more and more Switch game news. That's brilliant! I think it's bringing everyone's spirits up. Because once perspective is put in place regarding Switch's launch schedule, people are beginning to realize that it's actually looking very strong. A horrible launch isn't immediately the end.
Besides, we're still being fed Launch day line-up games even now, so we know Zelda isn't the only game we have to start with. Isaac, anyone?

@Arnold-Kage I believe the battle of red cliffs is just one of the many during the Three Kingdom period in Chinese history. That's probably why you can recognize some movie characters from the trailer. ;P

@Arnold-Kage If you are interested in this and don't mind historic inaccuracy, the chinese Three Kingdoms era fame is in part due to its medieval novelization : http://www.threekingdoms.com/ . It is part of those Four Great Classicals in chinese literature (among Journey to the West/Gensômaden Saiyuki in jap. and Water Margin/Suikoden).
Those classics are also pretty well known in Japan (though mayb through japanese "re-novelizations").
