SEGA 3D Classics Collection is rather good, bundling together plenty of delicious retro games - including some making their way out of Japan for the first time in their 3D form. This collection arrived in North America earlier in the year, and thankfully European gamers can now get in on the act.
It's available on the eShop, naturally, but it seems UK fans that want a physical copy will need to get it from Argos. It's not available on the usual sites like Amazon and GAME, so Argos seems to have exclusivity for it. It is £24.99, as expected, though the retailer has listed it as 'SEGA Sonic Classic Collection 3DS Game'; we bet SEGA wishes it had thought of that title. It's available for delivery, though a check of our two closest stores for a pick-up option states that we can order now but will have to wait five days for it to arrive.
Not ideal, then, though there is the option to simply download it from the eShop. In any case, SEGA Europe has also released an awesome launch trailer to celebrate the release.
Are any of you European gamers planning to pick this up?
With thanks to Dan for the heads up.

That's strange. Argos have improved on their pricing in the last number of years and are now generally more competitive than GAME or Gamestop so in my book it's no bad thing.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Indeed it is strange. Maybe their pricing has improved, but there's not much stock of this game, not in my area anyway!
So that's why I haven't been able to find a copy of it. Rather annoying, I'll pass on it for now.
Not sure if Argos think they're going to become a Gamer's best friend with this kind of exclusivity but I've never bought games from Argos myself so I don't think they're doing the UK sales any favours.
It's exclusive to one store in most European countries. Just ask Sega Europe on Twitter for your country's store! Luckily, my local Argos has a copy in stock.
Wow, I don't know anyone who would even go to Argos to buy a game these days. Walking into a shop and picking it off the shelf is so much easier and faster than Argos' pay and collect format.
Argos are generally good in terms of selection and pricing, but impulse purchasing is pretty much an impossibility, especially if you live in a town with a smaller store. I'll likely reserve myself a copy of this, mind. They also have UK retail exclusivity on that one YuGiOh ZeXaL game from a couple of years back, so it's not like this is a new or shocking thing.
Anybody remember when they had Dragon Quest 6, 9, and Monsters Joker 2 for like £5 each? Good times.
Got it. Thanks
Hello future rare game, May be smart to pick this up. I'm glad I can, I was just about to ask the forum if anyone's seen a store selling this so weird coincidence. Edit* It's in stock at my local store 😁
America needs a vol 2 for the ones that vol 1 didn't include like Outrun etc! Cmon Sega!!
@Baker1000 My goodness - where in the UK do you go for guaranteed stock of Nintendo games nowadays?
As annoying as Argos' stock management system is using their website, I have bought several games from Argos over the last couple of years, because in the following examples:
Kirby's Epic Yarn - £3
Guitar Hero Live - £20
Metroid: Other M - £3
Dead or Alive 3DS - £2.50
Mass Effect 3 - £6
...their prices have been the best available to me at the time, which is what gets my purchase.
In stock at my local argos , may pop down there in a bit and grab a copy
There's plenty of copies in Ireland. There is a problem though. The prices don't reflect the true exchange rate. We generally have to pay more than UK customers in most British stores. £25 is not €32.
@Tsurii They have already done the Retailer Exclusive DLC as they decided it would be absolutely AMAZING to give costume codes to three separate retailers for Hyrule Warriors back when it released.
Nintendo UK Official Store received the first costume pack.
GAME received the second costume pack.
Amazon received the third costume pack.
I managed to get the Nintendo UK Official Store costume pack with my pre-order and someone at GAME HQ gave me a spare code for the GAME exclusive costume pack. 2/3 isn't bad.
Retail exclusives are never a good thing. Usually they just end up hurting the game that has the misfortune of suffering from the limited availability.
Let's be thankful that we even have a physical version!
Thanks for the heads up, just ordered it with same day delivery. Not too shabby!
@tudsworth Yeah, that was great. I got Dragon Quest VI, IX, Monsters Joker 2, Inazuma Eleven, and Solatorobo for under £22! Later, I got Rhythm Paradise Wii for £3. Good times indeed!
Thanks for letting me know. Just ordered it from my local branch. I'll be picking it up as soon as I can be bothered to get off the couch.
Ah, yes, retailer exclusives, the most beloved mechanic in the gaming industry...
...
Got it, cheers for passing this on.
Feels a bit like Sega PR should have advised people about this
... I have zero problem with getting this from Argos.
i wouldn't say charging the same price as eshop is competitive i think im just gonna wait till a price drop or someone sells it pre owned
Not too strange, for awhile the Villager amiibo was an Argos exclusive and I think the blue XBONE S is also one too.
That awkward moment when Argos markets a Sega game better than Sega themselves.
Thank you Argos! Just placed the order and will be picking up tomorrow. I was getting worried I would have to download it.
Interesting - still undecided as to whether to purchase or not - I already have a couple of the games that came out separately. If I do I will almost certainly download though. Almost all my 3DS purchases these days are download.
Thought I'd check anyway just to see and one of my two local stores has a copy for immediate pick up.
Just bought mine now out of hope/fear it'll be a short print.
FYI, argos also have the new Dragonball Fusions RPG available for pre-order at £25, seems like a very good price to me

@gcunit to be perfectly honest I haven't purchased a game physically in a shop for what must be close to 10 years now. I just pre-order everything online, so it just arrives when it releases I don't have to worry about trying to source it in the shops.
