SteamWorld Heist is out now as a download and retail release (as part of SteamWorld Collection in the latter case) in Europe, with the region's Nintendo subsidiary publishing the disc version. Those awaiting the HD version in North America are still waiting, however, and those planning to grab the collection will need to deal with a slight delay.
Rising Star Games, which is publishing the Collection disc version in North America, tweeted that 1st November (as per some retail listings) is indeed the new target date, whereas previously it was expected in October. Image & Form has confirmed that and clarified to us that the eShop release of Heist is still aiming for October, so that's unchanged.
Let us know if any of you in North America are still waiting to pick this up, and be sure to check out our recent interview with Image & Form CEO Brjann Sigurgeirsson.

Why hasn't the first SteamWorld game been given the HD upgrade and added to the collection?
I'm still hemming and hawing over the European version. I will get it eventually though.
"in october"... but WHEN?! ô.Ô
i need my fix of swags and hats, but this time in sweet HD...
i seriously can't wait anymore, give it to me, give it to me NOW!! xD
Aww. I might have to skip it now. I am cutting off purchases for this year in October. It seems strange that the retail version would keep getting pushed back like this.
Wish the would release a 3ds physical copy.
I've been waiting for this for over a year. Can't remember I have waited for anything that long 🤔
I've waited this long, so a little longer won't kill me.
...Almost.
