Axiom Verge launched today on Wii U, much to the anticipation and excitement of many Nintendo fans. We thought it was an absolutely outstanding piece of game design, praising its innovative gameplay and gorgeous visuals. Of course, as with any 'Metroidvania', it's a pretty dense game by design, and there's no doubt many things you'll miss out on the first time around.
To help out with this, a brief tips and tricks video for the game was recently posted on Youtube, narrated by none other than Dan Adelman. Here, you'll get some pointers on basic combat and exploration strategies, something that new players may want to watch before diving in.
What do you think? Did you learn much from this? What do you think of Axiom Verge? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

Tip number one, replace the main characters image in you mind with Samus! 😉
@DiscoGentleman got it myself too and I've been enjoying it.
There is Federation Force...
Well I've actually been enjoying that, but I certainly would have loved to have a main series game this year.
Love this game. Bought it again for Wii U, even owning it on Vita.
Which is better this or FF
@GraveLordXD While I would immediately think of Final Fantasy for the abbreviation of FF myself.... He's talking about Federation Force I'd bet.
fast and furious 4, although i may have lost count
His voice is very similar to videogamedunkey's. Just wondering...
@DiscoGentleman : to celebrate Metroid's milestone year there's Federation Force !
Needs amiibo support so you can scan samus for a samus costume
Game's incredible, but I would advise people not to watch this. It spoils some pretty great discovery moments of the early game (and thankfully stops just where I stopped last night).
This is an excellent game. Every fan of 2D Metroid games should get a copy ASAP.
@GraveLordXD No I'm talking about Federation Force why would I compare this to Final Fantasy xD
I really want this game. You know, AM2R getting shot down, even though its just a fan game and Federation Force not even having a 30th Anniversary seal on the box is enough for me to buy this and Bloodstained. Metroid is dead. They want it to die. Whereas Konami puts life support on Metal Gear, somebody at Nintendo hates Metroid. Somebody wants it as dead as the Virtual Boy, and doesn't see the true essense and spirit of the series fit for Nintendo's future. So these kind of games are left to the fans and the kickstarters. We're all gonna play stuff like Axiom Verge, Xeodrifter, Bloodstained, Shantae, and wish they were all a Ultra HD, overdetailed Metroid Dread. It'll never happen. We are the forgotten generation; and they don't need us anymore.
Just finished this game last night. I like how it's very save-friendly! Plus, it's pretty much the epitome of trial and error. The game design was pretty good in teaching you the game without actually teaching you, which was one of the things that made Classic Mega Man and Metroid so awesome! The music is.... okay. There were some tracks that were LOADED with bass and some that were okay. The ambiance tracks were there. But there was this one area with a woman vocalizing that was grating on the ears!! I'll probably give it a second go-round down the road, but for now, I'm plowing through my Steam catalog.
@GraveLordXD Dude, TOTALLY thought of Rygar when you approached the bosses lair!!
