Many of you are no doubt big fans of Atlus' Shin Megami Tensei franchise and are eagerly anticipating the arrival of Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse. Something of an epilogue/retelling of Shin Megami Tensei IV, Apocalypse is shaping up to be an RPG to keep an eye out for this fall. Naturally, Atlus is keen to generate some hype around this, and has recently announced DLC plans for the game at launch.
There'll be plenty of free content, such as additional difficulty levels, new lore entries, an unlocked level cap, and some cosmetic gear pieces. Beyond that, there will be paid content that features boosting packs, such as those that help grind experience points, currency, and more, alongside standalone missions that reward you with a rare demon. In total, there's a lot of DLC, check it out here for full details. Additionally, here's a new trailer showing off a sample of what you can come to expect from the 450+ demons that will be featured in this release:
What do you think? Will you be picking up this game? What did you think of its predecessor? Drop us a comment in the section below.

Having played Persona 3 in the past 12 months, I was a little concerned with how a lot of the demons were present in SMT IV as well.
It's reassuring to see there's new artwork for some of the demons (apart from both Persona 3 and SMT IV - the two games I've personally played), as well as a few new ones too - for me, that is the one thing that will sell me on the game.
i loved shin 4 so this is a must for me. i just love the shin gamez so muvh. atlus contjnue to make quality interesting games where most fail.
i will be getting this hame
That is a long list of DLC
I forgot it was an article primarily about its DLC - I'll see myself getting farming ones definitely.
The only ones I'll shun are the cosmetic ones.
Really looking forward to this now. Just so long as Heqet is obtainable.
So looking forward to it since it was announced! But who knows when we'll see it here in Europe...
Well in the meantime I have Devil Survivor and its sequel yo play
i'm not getting this day 1. I still haven't beaten the first version of this game. I'm waiting until this goes on sale. I'm not spending $70 on a 3DS game no matter how good it is.
I finished the neutral ending just for this. Since the story follows the neutral path.
Navarre is DEAADDD. NOOOO. lol
cant wait. To be fair this is the only remaining release of 2016 that I'm really looking forward to.
What a crummy year. The world's collapsing in on itself and there's been barely a handful of good new games (for nintendo system owners anyway).
Ho hum.
I hope that arrives in Brazil since the original SMTIV is the only game that DLC was never released here.
@edhe You...do know Persona is a spinoff of SMT...right????
@edhe
The SMT games tend to reuse demon artwork in almost every game
Yuck, that long list. No doubt a bunch of overpriced DLC here, I hate that.
Might eventually get the game, but definitely not for quite a while. At least there are some interesting demons; too many have just been copy/paste/update sprite slightly over the years.
@televisions
"What a crummy year"
This is the best year the 3DS has ever had! Imo anyways.
Up until now, 2013 was the defining year of the 3DS. We got
Fire Emblem Awakening
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon
Etrian Odyssey IV
Zelda Link Between Worlds
Pokemon X/Y
DKC Returns
SMT IV
Mario & Luigi Dream Team
And this year in 2016 we get
Fire Emblem Fates Birthright
Fire Emblem Fates Conquest
*Fire Emblem Fates Revelation
Monster Hunter Generations
Pokemon Sun/Moon
SMTV
Bravely Second
Kirby Planet Robobot
Hyrule Warriors Legends
7th Dragon III: Code VFD
Yokai Watch 2
Dragon Quest VII
Dragon Quest VIII
Metroid Prime Federation Force
SNES virtual console
Even if it was conceded that 2013 was better, this is definitely the closest we've had to a repeat of that year.
I hope the insufferable map from the last game is fixed
@JaxonH Forgot Zero Time Dilemma, did you?
@antipop621 It's not insufferable once you learn the shoulder buttons rotate it. I mean, I'm colourblind and I had no issues with it.
@TheDavyStar
Of course I do.
@JaxonH I'll concede to FE and Kirby. Have no interest in yo Kai and federation force looks a bit boring.
I also don't have a new 3ds so I can't count the SNES vc or hurdle warriors since it apparently plays poorly on the regular 3ds
I meant crummy for the whole of Nintendo including the WiiU since we've only gotten one really good game (Tokyo mirage sessions) on that. I guess pokken may be good. Haven't played that. Don't count twilight princess because I haven't enjoyed it and it's not new and I wanted to like SFZero but haven't enjoyed anything beyond the first level.
