Summer Games Done Quick is one of our favourite annual events (alongside the other 'Games Done Quick' extravaganza each year) in the world of speedrunning and general gaming awesomeness. It features some of the world's most skilful players rattling through classic games while raising an incredible amount of money.
This year's event is raising money for Doctors Without Borders once again, and our plan is to do an article a day as a little reminder on what's happening and to give an update on its fundraising efforts - at the time of writing it's passed $100,000, though based on past years there's a long way to go yet. Today from a Nintendo perspective, meanwhile, there's a Mega Man block, while later on we'll see The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX and The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures, along with some Castlevania classics. The full schedule is right here.
As always you can head over to the official website to donate, if you'd like, while there's also a Humble Bundle with some PC games.
Enjoy!

@ThomasBW84 , why do some marathons get front-page announcements but others don't (i.e., Mario Marathon, TheSpeedGamer's Zelda Marathon)? We submitted news tips regarding both. Do you require official press releases for marathon announcements?
@copeland4 It's not a shun, some just slip through with priorities etc. This happens to be one I look out for personally each year, with really nice production values and huge sums raised. I'll aim to look closer at others in future though, there's always scope to cover more of these kinds of events.
@copeland4 the reason is shilling.
You can't compete with massive lolcows and cheaters of epic proportions like Chibi.
First time watching live, first time donating! Great job to all the runners and save the animals!
