tinyBuild is porting sports management simulation Punch Club to the 3DS.
Developed by Russian indie studio Lazy Bear Games, Punch Club takes inspiration from '80s pop culture icons to present a unique take on the tried-and-tested "boxing underdog" story.
You assume the role of an up-and-coming fighter whose father is brutally murdered. Taking to the ring, your aim is to move up the pugilistic ranks until you find the clues you need to track down the people who killed your father. You don't have direct control over your character, but instead pick his training routine and equip him with various moves to use in each match.

Originally released on PC, the game has since been ported to Mac OS, iOS and Android. tinyBuild has stated that the 3DS port is very early in development and no solid release date is available at present.

I was gonna ask if anyone knows if you can have a boyfriend instead of a girlfriend but since it's by a Russian developer I already know the chances of that are practically 0 😅
If it plays as good as it looks there might be some interesting 2D boxing game in there. Boxing games need fun mechanics or else it would be just dull button mashing.
I don't know if it was on purpose, but that trailer made the game look really boring.
That Donatello alligator in the sewers
Teenage Mutant.. Crocodiles... ?
Ha! Teenage Mutant Ninja Alligators! Game looks interesting, will certainly be looking to buy if it gets rated for Australia.
Do we not talk about Punch Club because it looks really bad? I'm just kidding, it looks fine.
But you lost me at 'you don't have direct control of your character'
@RudysaurusRex I thought the opposite actually. Trailer made the game look interesting to me.
Yeah, as someone who has zero interest in actual fighting games based around boxing, this is actually significantly more interesting to me than I expected on first glance. I didn't expect to put a boxing game on my radar, but I hope this turns out well.
Hahaha I love the title of the article! Got a good chuckle. This looks really cool, will pick it up sometime.
There's a lot of people here breaking the first 2 rules of Punch Club.
@khululy it's actually MMA not boxing, and you don't have control during fights
This is very similar to a game I played on steam called Karate Master 2
Looks like Monkey Puncher without the monkeys. I loved that game.
Could I just train my amiibo, make up a revenge plotline (something about Dr. Mario being framed for malpractice and gets revenge), and call it quits?
,
... and there goes my social life and productivity.
Looks pretty cool.
@khululy I own the game on PC and I think it's helpful to understand that there are no boxing mechanics. This is a simulator/rpg. All of the game play is building your character and when it come time to fight, you watch the fight and make some minor adjustments in between rounds, but have no direct control. Check it out on youtube first before you buy. I think it's a good game, but it is a little too grindy for some.
@Ben_Rage_V2 That's actually a bit sad because they couldve (and should've) made it skill based boxing game I don't like these static games, I need more gameplay than managing stats, I'm not an accountant I do not love numbers!
So "Nintendo Pocket Boxing Manager"? then. I'm up for that - looks pretty decent and I like the idea!!
@khululy - I love numbers (but then I teach math for a living so....)
@DadOfFour1972 numbers are strange they make no sense yet they only provide cold logic...
@khululy
It's essentially a strategy management game, at least if it's the same as the PC version.
You train and manage stats, then the fighter fights automatically.
Just watched a Let's Play.
I'm getting this for sure, looks to be a lot of fun and addicting!
