Tadpole Treble was supposed to be with us this March, but the Kickstarter-funded title missed that release date.
We've now had an update on why that was the case, as well as a revised release window of Summer. It seems that the game has hit some snags when it comes to passing Nintendo's Lot Check, with one of the extra features making approval difficult. This undisclosed feature may need to be removed in order to pass the check, but developer Matthew Taranto has stated that he will find a way of getting it back in, post-launch.
Here's the update from the Kickstarter page:
Of course, the question in mind for many of you is regarding the Wii U version's release date. To be straight up, we're having quite a bit of difficulty passing through lot check, and it turns out that one of our extra features has been making this task particularly difficult. Unfortunately, this may result in us having to cut that feature for the Wii U version, although we're already attempting to find a way to patch it back in post-release! But since it's a major reason why it's taken the Wii U version longer to get through, we had to make a difficult decision on whether to delay the game further, or just try to work it in as a patch so that people can still play the game sooner.
Here's the good news: it's still happening. It might be coming in Summer 2016 instead of Spring now, but we're still making it our biggest priority. I'm a Wii U owner and lifelong Nintendo fan, and I know the sting of companies (or Kickstarters!) canceling the Nintendo version out of the blue. We're not going to do that to you! The Wii U will have Tadpole Treble. I didn't come this far to not have my game on a Nintendo system, by gum! WE'RE MAKING IT HAPPEN. NO MATTER HOW MUCH IT DETERIORATES OUR SANITY!!
Did you back this game in the hope of playing it on Wii U? How do you feel about waiting a little longer?

The creator is the guy who used to make the Brawl in the Family webcomics. He did that for several years...until Smash 4 released, in fact. I believe him when he says he is a lifelong Nintendo fan, and I 100% believe that he is as determined as he says he is.
Good to see the devs are focused on bringing the Wii U version as soon as possible, you can't really say that about a lot of other Wii U devs anymore.
I find it amazing that Tadpole Treble is having problems passing lot checks when Mighty No. 9 made it through in the state it's in.
Yay!
I hope it does well.
Probably some sort of online feature. Those appear to have the hardest time getting through Nintendo's lot check.
I got the game on Steam during the Summer Sale and I could definitely say it's worth the wait. The game is charming and fun during the whole campaign.
@Damo
Make sure to mention - as @TeeJay remarked - Matthew Taranto's webcomic in further Tadpole Treble articles. Many developers claim to be "big Nintendo fans", but if you look up Brawl In The Family, you'll realize that this guy actually means it.
>I'm a Wii U owner
>I know the sting of companies canceling the Nintendo version
Heh, well at least we know he definitely has a Wii U! God, I hope the NX doesn't flop...
>_<
Yikes...!
The online level creator is most likely the reason for the delay, but I'm not completely sure. However, I'm definitely supporting the creator of my favorite webcomic!
I choose this version for the Kickstarter, been waiting fervently!
@DonSerrot Well the process for getting stuff on through the Nindie program is different then getting stuff published physically.
Plus Deep Silver has a lot more money to be able to push stuff through.
Perhaps he wanted amiibo support
@TeeJay For real? I love Brawl in the Family!
I love these guys! I interviewed Matt just recently actually. Check it out: https://youtu.be/IOR4jBh1eG8
@Tempestryke Yup! He even talked about Tadpole Treble a few times before he stopped the webcomics.
