It's being reported that nine (count 'em) new media properties are being prepped for an appearance in Lego Dimensions 2. Australian site Press Start is the source of the rumour, and claims that the news will break at this year's E3 event.
The IP includes (deep breath) Sonic the Hedgehog, Adventure Time, Harry Potter, JK Rowling's upcoming Fantastic Beasts & Where To Find Them, The Goonies, Ghostbusters (based on the 2016 reboot), Powerpuff Girls, Teen Titans and Mission Impossible. Phew!
As MCV notes, Star Wars isn't included in that list, but surely it is only a matter of time before it appears, especially as Disney Infinity is being put out to pasture.
While the previous approach has been to add more sets to the core Lego Dimensions experience, it would seem that these new offerings will be part of a fully-fledged sequel.

Excellent thumbnail as always Damo.
I could dig a Lego Goonies set, as Rube Goldberg as some elements of the film were.
Sonic Legos... too awesome.
What an odd but pleasing assortment! For some reason seeing semi-obscure titles as Legos is really satisfying. Sonic I'm not quite understanding... maybe Sega is desperate enough. Maybe it will be the best Sonic game in decades.
@AlexOlney I aim to please.
@chiefeagle02 Nice call on the Rube Goldberg mechanics in Goonies. That would be great.
Mission impossible also seems to have some good potential to me. It's a good place to get properties that wouldn't be popular enough on their own as a Lego game.
It'll be the best sonic game ever hurr hurr there is said it
OMG YES PLS!!! I love Lego Dimensions
Hell yeah!! I've wanted a Lego Goonies game for years now, I'll be all over LD2!!
Can't wait to see the truffle shuffle in lego form!
Fingers crossed for a Labyrinth set somewhere down the line!
Teen titans!
Guys....help...hold me
back....must....resist...Sonic LEGOs.
@Damo 2 things
"and claims that the news will break at this year's E3 event."
The trailer you embedded says Thursday June 9th, E3 starts next week, so we don't have too long to wait.
"While the previous approach has been to add more sets to the core Lego Dimensions experience, it would seem that these new offerings will be part of a fully-fledged sequel."
From what I've read that bit still seems up in the air, whether it's more add-ons or a sequel.
"will be releasing for the game this year as part of LEGO Dimensions Year 2 expansion."
It's year "2" expansion perhaps, not Lego Dimension 2.
It's in the Press-Start page you linked to.

I can imagine them having a new game on disc, but not a $100 Lego kit. Probably cheaper as a download as Disney Infinity liked to do. Still not sure it will be called "2". DI also started making the newer sets a download, so it's possible they won't sell a disc, but you'll need to download each new playset, so no actual new game at all, just downloads of each playset you buy. That would make the entire thing much cheaper.
Wow, that's a lot of IP's bundled together.
It seems that even after Disney Infinity dissolved, these franchises still need a home in the gaming world. Sure Lego is great, but it would totally make sense for Nintendo to be able to "provide" that home, be it a in-game universe or something new and unconventional. Also because younger kids tend to either be attracted to Nintendo products too, or there parents feel it's the more appropriate console for their children.
I hope Nintendo has a plan for NX for these "mashup" titles and is willing to accommodate them in their future plans...because I don't see them going anywhere for at least a couple years.
@rjejr I was just about to say much the same and a cheaper download option if there is a core expansion would be very welcome. Though they had better not skimp on Wii U as they have been wont to do for other Lego games.
Not sure we've had all the year 1 sets yet, still a few months to go. Think Supergirl, Green Arrow are still to come and sure I've seen Malificent, Ursula and Mickey, though that could have been a troll.
@DarthNocturnal Lego rarely drops in price...maybe the starter pack but I doubt the level/character packs will drop in price.
and if they do drop in price good luck trying to buy them, most of the current sets have been sold out since 2 weeks after they came out.
Can't find Ghostbusters, Midway and Back to the future anywhere now Wish I didn't buy AC amiibo instead (they have enough of those!)
Screw the game, I want a LEGO Sonic minifigure.
@AlexOlney
Your thumbnail with Mario punching Bowser in the crotch when Bowser Jr. was leaked as a SSB4 character (a brilliant visual joke) will always be a part of me. Did you get the raise I wanted you to get in that article?
@YouSeemFRAZZLED Probably the new girls but the girls themselves look so similar that we can reenact the original episodes
Lego Sonic? This I gotta see
Goonies, yes please.
@Sakura I still haven't bought the game yet b/c I was afraid of Wii U support going forward and I've been waiting to get a PS4.
Wave 5 came out a few weeks ago and it was the final of the announced content. I think the top of the LD starter box had pictures of everyone on it. Anything you've read about Wave 6 and/or 7 is just nonsense. Really looking forward to Thursday.

@DarthNocturnal @AyeHaley I've seen all of it on sale (US) at reasonable prices. Bought 4 $15 Fun packs for about $3.50 each, 75% off at Target w/ Cartwheel. Amazon had the starter pack on sale for $47 about a month ago. It's $55 on Wii U right now.

Older stuff is hard to find, forget ever getting Portal. Wizard of Oz or Unikitty are limited.
So it's still expensive, but you can shop around here in the states.
I always wanted a Lego figure of Peter Graves, lol.
Okay...would it be original Teen Titans and Powerpuff Girls, or reboot Teen Titans and Powerpuff Girls? Seriously, this is a very important question. There is quite a difference between the two. Also, not sure if I'd be all that thrilled over the Ghostbusters reboot making an appearance, but hey! At least we got the originals! Also, that is a lot of ips. I really hope this rumor is true. Really interested in what Sonic would look like.
If this is true, I'd only be grabbing the Sonic Legos just to have them - after the original constantly crashing with every update, I'm not in any mood to play it at the moment.
RUMOUR IS NOT NEWS.
That said, these have been floating around the Lego community for a while as "wishlist" IP's. A few others I've seen include Steven Universe, The A-Team, and Zelda. That said, Harry Potter is a sure thing.
@rjejr I was wondering if I might pick up a PS4 once the Neo is out and people who upgrade want to offload their old machines or a nice price drop hits. I looked at the games available and I can only see the Lego games and a few indies that I'd actually play. It seems like a very big investment, especially while I have a PC that can manage very well and the uncertainty over the NX still looms to clog up potential purchases. I will keep an eye out though.
Most of my Lego Dimensions purchases have been from supermarket loyalty schemes where points convert to prizes in true Bruce Forsyth style. Essentially free stuff! The sets don't seem too hard to come by here either. There's pretty much the whole collection at the local hypermarket a mile down the road. I'm still salty over the price though. Looking forward to the force Awakens, but I want that extra dlc so looks like it might be PC for that one. Or maybe PC and Wii U in the hope that the platform remains supported down the line, even if I don't play it.
How very random. Goonies? XD
Firstly, isn't Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them part of the Harry Potter IP? Sure a different Lego set, but same IP.
Secondly, Lego games may be awesome, but they're not exactly speedy, are they? Really can't imagine Sonic fitting in well with their usual gameplay mechanics...
I hope it isn't Teen Titans Go.
@Daruncic The A Team would be great, and it would fit in great besides Knight Rider if that rumour ever pans out.
@Thatguywhoeats
I used to truly hate TTG, but then they did this, and an episode on time travel, so they have some redeeming value. 90% is still horrendous though.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ycmRAAYP2xM
Also, KISS from the KISS and Scooby Doo Rock and Roll Mystery movie would be awesome.
@Thatguywhoeats XD Just what I was about to comment.
@NintendoFan64 Well, they'd probably make more money if they used the Teen Titans, Powerpuff Girls, and Ghostbusters reboots, but the fans would be upset. But hey, Lego Dimensions could use the originals. Then we could say "the Lego version's better than the reboot".
This goes hand-in-hand with the recent "Sonic in Lego Dimensions" rumor, and the suspiciously specific survey Sega had just a few days ago asking things like "how open would you be about Sonic being in a game with Adventure Time characters?"
I'm 50% sure this is real.
@Damo TRUFFLE SHUFFLE!!!!!
That is all.
@MetaRyan Well, at least we've already got the original Ghostbusters...
@OdnetninAges Yeah, if this ends up being true, then that survey will start making a bit more sense...and then it would raise more questions, because another one of those choices was My Little Pony.
Also im hoping this isn't the PPG reboot version, that stuff is trash, even mote trashy than Teen Titans Go.
I would think this accurate if they also had The Flinstones on the list (as bedrock appears in the original game), as that isn't the case I'm not going to believe the rumour, and frankly, a Sonic Minifigure would look ridiculous.
@Thatguywhoeats agreed, at least TTG had some comedy gold in it, like that serious episode.
Anyway, isn't that like kinda old, like last year/beginning of this, news? I remember hearing about AT, TTG and Ghostbusters thing in Lego because of the leaked list.
All I really want is a Half Life set.
Oh please to the Goonies! For whatever reason its still my favorite movie.
I'm in for some of them. I wish they had the rights to do Turtles as a full LEGO game...ahh think of all the characters for Turtles fans. I wonder which will be level packs....
@Captain_Gonru You don't have kids, you shouldn't even be watching TTG, that show is horrible. Except that 1 episode, and maybe a few others. Better than Marvel Super Hero Squad, destroyed my entire childhood in 1 episode. Someday somebody is going to ask me why I bought a PS4 and I'm going to answer The Goonies.
@Spoony_Tech Are you aware of your Jekyll and Hydeness between here and Twitter? On Twitter you sound like me. Oh, and I'm not judging, Twitter, Facebook, here, I'm different everywhere, different audience. My kids read this, my mom and sisters are on FB, Twitter is just me, Miitomo and the Suicide Girls. Man's gotta have a hobby, and Nintendo has mine in a coma. (Hey I typed that correctly, that's a first)
@shaneoh If Fred Flintstone comes he'll bring his high quality rip memes.
edit: i love autocorrect
@Dave24 Yeah I think it is.
Goonies never say die! That set I'd definitely get!
I wish people would stop saying LEGOs. There is no such word. The plural of LEGO is LEGO - no 's' on the end. This is one of the few things that really irritates me!
@Captain_Gonru That reminds me, I still need to watch the original 5 seasons of Teen Titans. I wasn't really interested until I read it has Slade from Arrow as a main villain. Not sure how though, guess I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. Did you watch the original series before Go? Oh, and BTW, Lego D will probably be the original, not Go, I sort of steered the conversation in that direction as an excuse to rewatch that clip.
The Goonies? Really? They're starting to scrape the bottom of that barrel pretty fast.
Well I hope they put the terminator, robocop,Rocky,Looney tunes and batman (adam west)
I would love a classic PPG set. The twirking Green Lantern knockoffs they are right now, though? Eeeeeeegggghhhhh...
@rjejr original Teen Titans was good - quirky early 2000s humour with some animu thrown in, but it's fine at later seasons.
I don't know about Arrow, but Slade/Deathstroke if memory serves me right was pretty big deal in 80s TT comics. Deathstroke is everywhere though and now hard-on is as strong as ever with him.
@Ralizah these old business men and their pop culture
I can't wait to see lego boom-beefcake knuckles.
@Pac-Fan please
It's all TRUE video released today
