Natsume has revealed that the 3DS is getting a new Harvest Moon game.
Dubbed Harvest Moon: Skytree Village, this fresh instalment will be shown off at E3 this year, and apparently factors in fan feedback gained from recent releases like Harvest Moon: The Lost Valley and Harvest Moon: Seeds of Memories.
In the new adventure, you'll be able to play as a boy or a girl and begin a family with one of the many NPCs which populate the game's town. There are new crops and flowers to discover, as well as fresh fishing mechanics.
Here's President and CEO of Natsume Hiro Maekawa:
After the evolutionary Harvest Moon: The Lost Valley and a successful jaunt to mobile platforms with Harvest Moon: Seeds of Memories, we are really excited to share everything we have learned with our fans. Our community is very important to us, and their feedback and input has been taken into account a great deal in the development of Harvest Moon: Skytree Village! We hope they will see and feel their contribution in this new game!
Natsume is also showing off Wild Guns Reloaded and River City: Tokyo Rumble at E3.
Are you looking forward to getting your hands dirty with a new Harvest Moon episode?

I'll wait and see. I wasn't impressed with Story of Seasons, the pacing was so slow that I quickly lost interest (and typically I'm a fairly patient person). Lost Valley didn't look like it was for me (from what I had seen and read). Interested in seeing how this develops.
I feel like every "Harvest Moon" game by Natsume needs to be put between quotation marks.
Harvest moon to show at E3 ? Really ? ... E3 for big games not this one !
I'd rather have Stardew Valley ported to 3ds. It's the closest thing to a real harvest moon game that we've received in the last decade
@Tagong I would like to see that as well. To me Stardew Valley reminds me more of Rune Factory, than Harvest Moon.
will definitely get this. i loved lost valley and wasn*t a big fan of Story of Seasons. I found it to be difficult to get into for me.
Woo I loved TLV, so I'm definitely interested.
I hope this means same-sex marriage is finally available
@devilwaffle Does that even need to be brought up in the comment section?
If Natsume's intention is to trash the franchise's reputation and fracture the fan base, they're doing a great job.
@Tasuki These are life sims, essentially. Some would like such sims to reflect some parts of their lives.
@Vineleaf and that's fine but as I said does this type of subject need to be brought up in the comment section?
I'll buy it.
I haven't liked the direction of Harvest Moon in a long while.
It seems with every new game, they get rid of the good stuff and add more gimmicks.
@Tasuki Why not? Is the mere mention of same-sex marriage offensive to you or something? Is it like the name Voldemort in the Harry Potter universe? You can't even stand to hear about it?
@Wouwter Not really, it doesn't bother me at all just whenever someone brings this stuff up here in the comments the comment section always goes way off topic of how it's right or wrong. Instead of just the game.
@Tasuki So you wanted to derail the comment section yourself this time, gotcha.
@Wouwter Who's derailing, I am just speaking the truth.
Huh.... well... I might give them a second chance. Lost Valley had some nice ideas, but in the core, it was a really really bad game.
If they combine the plant breeding with better watering tools and an actual village to visit... (and SEASONS FROM THE START), it might be a game worthy of it's name.
@thehoppypoppy
Did you played on Seedling or on Normal? If you played on Normal, just try Seedling mode. Even in japan the players complained about it being to hard and slow, that's why they patched in Seedling Mode. We got both modes at once, which makes "Seedling" seem like the "easy" mode, when it's actually the normal difficulty and the "Normal" is the hard mode
I played on Normal, and yes, it's a bit slow - but I didn't found it too annoying. "Seedling" comes closer to the other "Harvest Moon" titles though, so it might give you a better feeling for the game.
@Rutana Good to know. Thanks for the tip.
@Tagong
Your in luck than..probably.
"I'm looking in to ports now and 3DS is something I'm interested in, but I can't make any promises at this point. I do plan to bring it to as many consoles as I can though!
This is the response I got when I asked concernedape about it on Twitter.
@Tasuki No one is derailing the comments because same-sex marriage was mentioned, there's just you pretending the mere mention of it is a problem.
A New Beginning was the last one I liked, but I didn't care about any of the Wii or DS games, so it's been a while that I've actually been super into this series. I always look forward to a new HM game but they always seem to be broken or have ugly graphics or are just a plain farming game with some gimmick addition that you kind of are annoyed by.
@Pikachupwnage doesn't surprise me. ConcernedApe is probably one of the best developers I have seen in a long time. Such care, detail and a clear love for gaming from one person. It's truly amazing.
the real harvest moo- i mean story of season, is more interesting, so hoping for a west release for that, if this harvest moon game can get my interested i'll likely get it.
Wasn't there supposed to be a new Harvest Moon for Wii U? I thought one was announced a while back, maybe at E3? I'm a bit out of the loop lately, lol
I am hoping this new one will be good, and I will most likely get it, but I think Grand Bazaar was the most fun version of Harvest Moon so I hope they brought some of the unique gameplay aspects of that one to this new version! Story of Seasons was awesome too but that was XSeed, not Natsume so it's unfair really to consider that one vs. this one.
At this point Natsume needs to just buy the rights to stardew and hire its dev and give them a team and free reign. As so far Natsume's efforts are trailing behind story of seasons (which has its own set of problems) anyway. Plus after being able to play as and marry my own sex I don't want to deal with the current marriage metagames in hm and sos (bm) anymore.
@Kiyata Not sure how much Natsume can "borrow" from the bokujo monogatari series (now known as story if seasons and previously known as harvest moon outside japan) that wouldn't incur the wrath of marvelous/xseed at this point. Bad enough they are using name recoginition to sucker people into buying a new series.
Dang...!
Let see if Natsume will make another Worse Harvest Moon again. I have a feeling this title will screwed up again. (Natsume, have you learned from the past ? or still being overconfident ?)
They still haven't learned it seems.
Unless they have their own booth to show this off, it would likely be set in Nintendo's booth area, meaning Zelda isn't the only game on Nintendo platforms being shown.
@thehoppypoppy Story of Season is made from a different company ?...
@Discostew Natsume always has its own booth at e3. It's usually decorated as a farm.
@Discostew they have their own booth.
"We are really excited to share everything we have learned with our fans."
I sure do hope so. I would love to play another fine Harvest Moon, which isn't a tutorial infested, slow as all hell, "innovation" packed snoozefest (and I put that in quotes, because it's more of an annoyance than innovation, but that's just my opinion). I recently replayed Harvest Moon 64 and Friends of Mineral Town, I miss this kind of simple, yet very addictive HMs...
@thehoppypoppy Story of seasons is by the real Harvest Moon team though, while this is just Harvest Moon in name only.. I am much more excited for a new story of seasons game then this one. But yes, Stardew Valley trumps almost all recent experiences with any Harvest Moon games that I have had, and I have played them all at this point ..
Sorry Natsume, I can't hear you over the sound of how awesome Stardew Valley is.
@Tasuki
Because it is a comment. In the comment section. That's how it works.
This is the milked-dry fake Harvest Moon franchise, so not interested. I'll take Story of Seasons over it.
