Last week Nintendo of Europe released six more Wii U titles as part of the Nintendo Selects range, dropping their price to €24.99/ £19.99 in stores and on the eShop. It seems the new price ranges have worked nicely in stores, with three of the titles making their way into the UK all-format top 40.
New Super Mario Bros. U + New Super Luigi U is leading the way, showing that a lot of 2D platforming at a budget price can do the trick - it made its début in 18th place. Next up was The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD in 25th place, while Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze secured 39th place. There was a fourth Wii U title in the top 40, too, with Pokkén Tournament in 35th place, down from 27th.
Only one 3DS title has made it into the all-format top 40, and that's Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer in 36th place.
A good week for the Nintendo Selects range, in any case. Beyond the three leaders that made the all-format top 40 we had LEGO City: Undercover which secured 7th in the Wii U chart, and Wii Party U down in 16th for the console. Nintendo Land didn't make the Wii U top 20, but that's unsurprising as the majority of players in Europe likely had it for free with their system.
The results next week will include the launch performance of Star Fox Zero, and it'll be interesting to see how well it does.

Don't think I've ever seen so many Wii U titles in the chart at one time!
Mario/Luigi U is a brilliant bargain!!
I bought DKTF too and love it
My Nintendo selects arrived this morning. NSMBU, DKTF and Windwaker. Haven't played a Mario platformer in years so I'm looking forward to that.
Tropical freeze is sooooo faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaackiiinngggg gooooooooooooooooooood!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'll be picking up some of these titles physically for sure Can't wait for the Donkey Kong games and Super Mario 3D World!
Donkey Kong TF deserves far more sales than it's had. It's only sold 1.4 million the last I looked ,so just under 90% of Wii U owners don't own this masterpiece.Sad really!
@Gizmoguy92 best game ever I'm starting to think
I wouldn't say Nintendo Land was "free" when it was in the bundle that cost an extra $50. I know some of that $50 was for the humongous 32GB of storage but some was for the game.
Just think, Nintendo could have had all of that money months ago. 3rd ears is too long to wait for a Select line, nobody has been buying those games for awhile now. Perhaps if the Selects started before the holiday Nintendo could have sold a few more Wii U.
Oh well, too late now. Unleash the Kraken - NX.
@rjejr yeah I agree, it took far to long IMO to bring out the Selects line for Wii U and 3DS.
I recommend Lego City Undercover, it's a hidden gem of a game.
I would guess some gamers are waiting to read the Starfox controller system review before they commit to spending. After all we could get a Nintendo select game instead if the controls seem a bit ropey.
Let's hope the review is honestly done regarding the control system and not the old chestnut; its worth the practice getting used to the controls to enjoy the game.
When what they mean is Nintendo should have things as they were.
Hope new super Mario u goes on sale in Canada. Had a copy of it but was stolen. Looked on ebay for disc only and people all wanted at least 48 bucks witch Is a rip off.
@Mr_Zurkon Nintendo needs more sales like TRU is having - 1-2 year old games like Ryse, Sunset Overdrive and Rare Replay for $9.99 each. Of course Ntineod needs a good compilation like Rare Replay - NES Remix w/ actually games, not demos. Rise of the Tomb Raider for $30 is pretty good too, that's about 6 months old. You know Ntinod waits way too long to drop prices when half of the US Selects are Wii games, not Wii U.

@rjejr No kidding. I like when Best Buy does it Buy 2/Get 1 sales too.
I got lego city undercover as it had slipped under my radar before, I'd never heard of it! Great game!
I did my bit, Lego City Undercover for my house and NSMBU / NSLU for my nephew. Please get DKC if you haven't already, absolutely brilliant, a masterpiece
Windwaker HD for me I think, after finishing Twilight Princess HD it's left me thirsty for more...
"Nintendo Land didn't make the Wii U top 20, but that's unsurprising as the majority of players in Europe likely had it for free with their system."
Nintendoland has been cut out from most bundles a long time ago. People just didn't want it, even at a budget price.
Games at the bottom of the Wii U top 20 sell miniscule amounts. Getting to that list should be completely trivial, but Nintendoland didn't manage even that.
I still want to see more 3DS Selects releases - more in 2016 do people imagine?
@Mahe And that's a shame. Nintendo Land is one of the best party games I've ever played.
@Freeon-Leon Agreed. If anyone out there has ignored Nland 'cause of its mediocre reputation, you owe it to yourself to try it for yourself.
@Mahe well I bought Nintendo Land, it arrived last Friday, but it wasn't a Nintendo Selects version, I got it for £10 brand new from the Game Collection. My son has been playing it at his cousins and absolutely loves it. First thing he asked me today when I picked him up from school was did I buy Nintendo Land today lol. He's getting it on Wednesday morning for his birthday.
And still nothing in Australia.
I'd love to pick up A Link Between Worlds for 20 dollars... Oh wait...
@Freeon-Leon Even bad games have some fans. Most people don't like Nintendoland.
@Mahe Yeah, some people hate fun games. But I don't think it's "most people". All the friends I've played Nintendoland with end up loving it.
@Freeon-Leon Yeah, suuuuuure.
@n64memories Agreed. I've been hoping for Super Mario 3D Land, Luigi's Mansion 2 and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D to become Selects.
@BionicDodo Europe are getting more on 24th June, including Ocarina of Time 3D
@n64memories I was quite excited to read that but it's not the greatest lineup in my opinion. I may get the Mario & Luigi game but none of the others interest me (I have Ocarina). How does the dodgy afterthought that is Lego City Undercover 3DS get into the Selects range?
