Terraria has evolved to be a hugely successful title across multiple platforms, blending 2D gameplay, adventure and sandbox mechanics rather effectively. Publisher 505 Games has been keeping fans up to date on an upcoming patch, and included some snippets on the 3DS and Wii U version.
The 3DS version should have an update largely in line (time-wise) with Sony and Microsoft versions, which looks to be targeting the latter half of May. It'll fix 'pressing issues' and also include add-on content, but no details have been given as yet.
As for the Wii U iteration, 505 Games acknowledged it had "taken longer than anticipated", but is close to submitting it to Nintendo - an eShop release could arrive in late May.
Have you been playing Terraria on 3DS, or waiting for it on Wii U? Let us know.
Thanks to all that sent this in.

Let's hope it's a little more polished than the 3DS version, eh?
If this has local multiplayer and the most recent version, I'm totally getting it. I just can't seem to get people in on the multiplayer over Steam.
It's already got local multiplayer... It should have online multiplayer...
I bought it anyways, though... Its pretty fun.. Hope the add ons are enough to keep on playing..
I dunno, haven't even gone online in the Wii U version of Minecraft. Hopefully local multiplayer will be easier to deal with...because apparently you can't even use the freakin' Gamepad in Minecraft's local. :/
I've heard that this will be the definitive version..... sounds like a buy to me.
Its seem so close yet so far
I really enjoyed playing this game on my smartphone, and this version seems even better!
I have it on my standard 3DS, and honestly, it looks and plays pretty well. I get weird slowdown in 1-2 places that aren't any busier than other areas, but otherwise, it works better than I'd hoped. It's nothing like the differences I've seen in Hyrule Warriors Legends based on video comparisons, but then, Terraria isn't an action game, so it's not so bad anyway when it does drop a few frames. I imagine some performance improvements will be coming with this update as well, but for anyone thinking about jumping on board with the standard 3DS version, it's definitely not too shabby (based on my own personal experiences and expectations, anyway).
What about the physical edition?
Already played it to death. Maybe if it came out 2-3 years ago like it did for everything else, I may have bought it for Wii U.
Hmm, will this even sell this late into the game? It's been out for a long time on everything else and been given out free on ps+. Bit of a downer, I know.
I hope Nintendo have learnt their lesson and the NX is a straight 1:1 port system for developers.
I tried to get into Terraria a few times now, and honestly the 3DS version is the first one to actually engage me. It's really fun!
Close to 600 hours played on 3ds! My preferred system of choice, but also own it on steam, psvita & iPhone. I'm sure I'll get it for WiiU as well
Ill get it in wii u, lack of 3d kept me from buying it in 3ds
This version of the game is practically the definition of the phrase "better late than never"! Right at the end of the Wii U's lifespan if rumors are anything to go by.
where is the physical??? its been out in the states for months
This is one of my most wanted for Wii U.
I played Terraria on the 3DS for the first time recently and immediately got hooked. The Terraria port to Wii U is 100x better than Minecraft Wii U. It's like the Minecraft developers can't be bothered about the Wii U (no support for wiimote+nunchuck, poor local multiplayer support, no good use of gamepad, etc.) whereas Terraria Wii U has support for everything. Can't wait to start another world and play local multiplayer! Terraria is super fun.
Waiting for the Wii U so I may pick it up.
Until the 1.3 update comes to 3DS/Wii U, I don't really care.
