One of the niftiest things about Super Smash Bros. for Wii U & 3DS is the developers' ability to send out live updates to further tweak its gameplay mechanics, ensuring balance amongst the roster of fighters. It's definitely something that's needed - just look at the controversy the infamously over-powered Meta Knight caused in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and Diddy Kong's wrath in Smash 4's early days.
With that said, another patch has recently gone live for Smash 4, once again containing buffs and nerfs to a variety of characters. Those hoping for a major Bayonetta nerf may be left disappointed, for as it stands she's received a mere slap on the wrist. You can check out the full list of changes over at Smashboards, which is still in progress at the time of writing. It's definitely reassuring to know that while development on the game has ceased, Nintendo, Bandai Namco and Masahiro Sakurai's team are still trying to perfect the game's mechanisms to ensure a greater experience for one of its core titles.
What do you make of the changes implemented? Has this positively and/or negatively affected any of your favourites?

Watch out, Smash Bros is going to be become super stable!
Leave my Peachy main alone!
Nice, I don't want major Bayonetta nerfs.
@RupeeClock
Not as stable as much my 3DS.
The link to Smashboards seems to be broken actually.
@RupeeClock When I clicked on the forum, it said it was performing a brief nightly backup, so it'll probably be back soon.
EDIT: Nevermind, just looked at the URL more closely, you're right, it's broken. Looks like they nerfed Corrin.
@RupeeClock But only on the 3DS version, the Wii U console isn't getting enough stability updates to become super stable
@RupeeClock @MasterS7000 this one works, here ya go http://smashboards.com/threads/1-1-5-patch-notes.433162/
Things I'm happy about:
•Sheik's nerf (FINALLY)
•Buffs to lower tiers (Ganon and Samus)
•Cloud's nerf
•Bayonetta's nerf
•Corrin's counter nerf
Things that make me sad:
•No buff to the Puff
•Bayonetta's nerf isn't that big
•Corrin's other nerfs
Oh, and I'm also happy about the Greninja buffs.
@4sterr Wait, so KBG's numbers going up are actually nerfs? Otherwise, I would say Kirby actually got the most buffs, haha.
(Unless by 'puff' you meant Jigglypuff...)
I'm glad about the buffs to the likes of Samus, and a few others. This patch actually seems to buff the characters I regularly use, while nerfing the characters one of my friends uses regularly, which is just sad for him, haha.
Even though I use Corrin, and am sad about most of the nerfs, that counter knockback seriously had to be reduced.
Here's the link in question!

I wonder if they're really ironing out stability to get a final version ready for NX?
Darn, there goes all of our replays once again (that we hadn't uoloaded anyway). I think the best way to fix Bayonetta would be to replace her with Banjo-Kazooie or something. Just sayin
That's good. Gotta keep the game balanced. That allows it to be more viable in the competitive scene.
Glad to have uploaded my Smash replays to YouTube in time; will be glad to do more matches once my friends drop at my place.
I'm surprised by this new patch and I am happy that the game will still be getting balanced every now and then.
I use Corrin on a regular basis and I'm happy that Counter Surge has been looked at and changed. I don't really agree with the speed nerfs though.
I use Corrin regularly but I have to agree that the counter was OP. So I'm not upset about the nerf. But making them slower? I feel that was unnecessary.
As a side note, my man Robin got buffed AGAIN. Nice. I main him over Corrin anway so this alone makes up for the Corrin nerfs.
Eh, some of the changes are good while others feel terribly unnecessary in the current metagame. And no, I'm not personally butthurt about anything on this patch, my character is Link and he only received buffs - buffs that don't fix the character's actual problems, but buffs still.
It has to be perfect by the time it allegedly hits NX, right?
Why can't they just tell us what they updated? FFS. We always have to datamine. Honestly, you have probably 90% of games nowadays that tell you what they changed because it makes their game look even better, and then you have Nintendo who feels the need to be tight-lipped about updates for crying out loud.
Samus buff? Ooh, exciting!
Rip Sheik
@CapricornDavid
The KBG on Sheik's throws going up makes it more difficult to combo into FAir. The only buff she got was on DSmash.
And yes. I did mean Jigglypuff.
i saw the pic that accompaneid thsi on twitter and really thought it was bayonetta news. ah well. c'est la vie. btw bayonetta nerfs sound like she shoots foam bullets now.
Yay for Corrin's counter nerf.
@4sterr And so you learn something new every day! Nintendo has too many pink puffballs...
Oh, was this; in the night, I was playing this, suddenly, when I tried check some online, Appear a message that I need update it, I thought that other thing happened in my Wii U, oh well.
They're gonna keep balancing the game until Wii Fit Trainer be all like "DAAAAAAAAYUM!"
This means they are pretty much working on a NX version >_> Why else would you still rebalance the game.
Really liking these changes, specifically the damage and knock back nerf to Cloud, more end lag on Bayonetta's witch time, up air angle change on Meta Knight, and more Shiek nerfs.
Some of the buffs for certain bad characters seem pointless though. The only thing that can save the likes of Zelda and Palutena is completely overhauling the moves.
Maybe this update it will be ganondorfs turn to shine at the top level play. Or maybe not.
Well, that came out of nowhere.
like LucasSeems to me like mostly strong characters got buffed, and mostly weak characters got nerfed. Just my two cents, though.
@Azikira sheik, zero-suit, bayonetta used to be pretty much the best characters in the game (and probably still are)
cloud and metaknight (and corrins counter) were ridiculous too
I don't see your point in "weak characters got nerfed"
Bayonetta has been dropping in usage since the the initial surge of Bayonettas in the first week (as happens with most new characters). Most believe her poor frame data would prevent her from being a truly dominant force despite her advantages, and that seems to be what's happening. Even Witch Time, arguably the best counter in the game, is rarely seen in competitive play, although still a common source of complaints form casual players, as are all counters.
@DarkKirby Rarely? I see it a couple times per match. But it's not the game-breaking move the scrubs probably think it is.
Anyway, Bayonetta's nerf to Witch Time looks pretty significant to me. A bit more than a "slap on the wrist."
There go my replays. Not that they were Vs actual ppl replays, so, it's good. I'm glad they're still balancing the roster. This does sorta hint at a possible porting to NX, maybe as filler? Also, like @Ryu_Niiyama: said, it allows the game to be more viable competitive-wise.
Why did they make Corrin's walk and run speed slower?! Upset with that nerf.
Absolutely ecstatic about Mewtwo's buffs though!
Gah! All those deadly replays lost in the ether! Well, a small handful (including a pretty decent Pellet to Orange KO for Pac-Man) really. But any sort of balancing is great. Glad Witch Time is more like a normal counter now, speed wise.
@Monte Maybe it's just my playstyle, but Ganondorf got mostly nerfed and I thought he was terrible in this game from Brawl, Meta Knight is absolutely nothing compared to his Brawl counterpart and he still gets nerfs, and Palutena is crazy strong and she still gets buffs, and so on.
Of course, since everyone plays a bit differently there's bound to be discrepancies on what characters everyone views as 'strong' and 'weak', but from my personal experiences it seems they're just dividing the roster into those who are Overpowered and those who are Underpowered. Just my two cents, and completely subjective too.
