Whilst it may not have been an especially explosive week for Nintendo news directly from Nintendo, special sources have been firing ten to the dozen this week bringing forth a wealth of new rumours with surprising validity. If you've been too busy doing other things that someone in your life claims are more important than video games then don't worry. Thanks to Nintendo Life Weekly you can get yourself back up to speed in next to no time at all.
This week we explore the substantial if unconfirmed claims that Mother 3 is being localised at Nintendo of Europe, further word that the Nx will drop this year, speculation about currently unreleased Splatoon content, and the usual medley of releases and reviews.

Argos have the squid amiibo on sale for £5.99 at the minute if anyone is interested, I just got two, one for my nephew
not all that buzzed for mother 3, but i am curious about citing eurogamer. looking at the bottom of this page, eurogamer is among the 'friends'. i know pushsquare and purexbox are sister sites of nlife, so i assumed eurogamer was as well. wouldn't their reinforcement of the rumor just be the result of news cross-pollination from nlife?
Rumors, rumors, rumors, so many rumors!
get that money nintendo.
While the last two years or so have given us awesome games from a Nintendo standpoint, certain business decisions also made me a bit cynical about this: if "it's taken a troubling WiiU situation" to give us Donkey Kong 64, EarthBound, an European version of Drill Dozer, EarthBound Beginnings, a long overdue official Mario creation tool, a deviously home console-exclusive GBA Virtual Console and a localized version of the Fire Emblem + Shin Megami Tensei crossover, and after similar back stabs such as Super Paper Mario becoming a Wii exclusive shortly before its release, I wouldn't be surprised to see Mother 3's western debut being kept as a trump card to sell the NX.
@AlexSora89 one vc game won't sell a console.
Does anyone know what music was going on in the background? I can't think what game it's from.
@wazlon Unfounded Revenge/Smashing Song of Praise. It's a remix in Smash Bros that originated from Mother 3.
Mother 3 being localized by Nintendo of Europe? Good luck translating it into German, Italian, French, Swedish, Bulgarian, Russian and a whole bunch of other European languages.
As much as I want to believe it, I've been screwed over by rumors so much with Smash, that I just don't know what to believe anymore. It's very easy to fake something like so called "official artwork" and claim it is when it isn't. That's not just cruel but it's spreading misinformation and lies for a cheap laugh.
I also hate that newsites like yours are spreading something that isn't even proven. It makes you look worse and your smugness annoys me.
@NintendoFan64 Thanks, I never would have figured it out
@faint
Tell that to the people who decided to keep the GBA Virtual Console Wii U-exclusive. Even Reggie had to address the issue, and was brutally honest when he said the reasons were "a matter of business".
@AlexSora89 that had to do with the ambassador program and iwatas promise. You also realize that most people download roms on jail broken phones. Nobody is going to shell out 300 bucks to play a vc title.
@faint
True dat, but it would be nice to have a 3DS VC featuring all three Game Boy lines, instead of... you know... a home console - the NES - as a tradeoff for the GBA being stuck on WiiU. Again, hopefully the NX will blur the lines between home console gaming and portable gaming enough for this not to be an issue.
Mother 3 coming out on in the U.S. would be quite possibly the greatest thing ever. It's one of my favorite games of all time and I would absolutely love to be able to play a official release of it
