This weekend Nintendo of America is holding a special StreetPass event to mark the arrival of the scariest day of the year. No, we're not talking about New Year's Eve, but Halloween.
Dropping by one of the 29.000 Nintendo Zone hotspots across North America between October 30th and November 1st could bag you up to six (count 'em!) StreetPass tags.
Furthermore, Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer players could meet Filly, a special character who is - at this moment in time - only available from Nintendo Zone.
To find the nearest Nintendo Zone to you, drop by the official site.

And I just sent my N3DS XL in for repairs yesterday. Looks like I won't be participating . . .
Streetpass has become boring. Even the new recent games I don't even play anymore. Glad we finally got a new puzzle though as I do still like those.
@cbkummer I actually need to send my new 3DS to repairs, because it has 2 dead pixels on the top screen. But I bought it directly from nintendo so I don't really know if I can send it to them xD. (it's the 3ds ambassador edition)
Am I mistaken, or has it been 6 streetpass hits at each Nintendo Zone hotspot for a while now? I'm on Europe, so maybe it's different here
@Therockbrothers I don't know about Nintendo UK, but NOA gives a year warranty with every system. If you go to their support site it can tell you if your system is still under warranty.
So for spot pass for HHD do you need to be in game? Or does it just happen like normal spotpass stuff and you can check it later?
this is a no go for me. the nearest nintendo zone for me is half an hour away. and i don't drive, damnit
the only places in canada that are Nintendo Zone are Best Buy and airports. It used to be McDonalds but for some reason not anymore.
Okay...so the only difference is you can meet a Happy Home Designer? The total was already 6 for any NZone visited.
Are they mixing up all the zones like the previous holiday events? Maybe that's what makes it an event, though neither this article nor the source mentions that.
@Pokefanmum82 do the AT&T wi-fi hot spots work in Canada for StreetPass? Here I can get streetpass hit from some random AT&T wi-fi spots, like hotels or Home Depot too, but for some reason I haven't got any from a McDonalds for a while also.
YES!! I can hit up four Nintendo Zones on Halloween! Yokai Watch pink pieces are mine!
@crimsontadpoles Yes, it's been six for ages, though if you haven't been online at all with your console it only gives you three. I think the writer is taking a dig at the fact that even 6 whole hits is not going to get you anywhere near the 999 999 top plaza accomplishment. 6 a day would take 457 years. StreetPass is not a bad idea, but the accomplishments and some of the limitations are ridiculous.
@OutCold I don't know if they do. I just know that according to Nintendo of Canada's website, that only airports and Best Buy have Nintendo Zone. None of which are anywhere near me. I live in the country and only go into town once a week to grocery shop.
You've always gotten up to 6 StreetPass hits at a Nintendo Zone. However, since it is a National StreetPass Weekend, all the data gets mixed around so you can get people from other places around the country.
Surprised no one has done a Spoopy joke yet.
@Therockbrothers I recently sent my Ambassador New 3DS back to Nintendo UK because it was broken. I don't think they're particularly well made. Anyway, they'll fix it for free (time is running out though, they've been out almost a year now) - and then when they've fixed it, you'll get a renewed 12 month warranty. Which is nice because already my R button has stopped working.
Sounds like a fun event. Now I can continue with the Streetpass games.
Hate losing sleep over knowing i will not meet up with Filly.
Does anyone know if Mcdonalds are still zones in Canada?
Has anyone gotten the special character in Happy Home? Does it just automatically show up like in a notification or do you have to be actively playing the game at a Nintendo Zone?
