Keen followers of the Metroid series may be aware of the Comic Bom Bom manga, Metroid: Samus & Joey. This non-canon story was first published in the magazine in 2003 and focused around Joey, a young boy who is saved by Samus Aran after an attack on his village, and thereafter swears to stay by her side as a side-kick.
The manga - which was illustrated by Idzuki Kouji - was then compiled into three volumes, but the final chapter - Metroid EX: Samus & Joey - was never pulled together and published in its own volume, and can only be found in the pages of Comic Bom Bom.
The guys over at Metroid Database have been working tirelessly over the past 5 years to scan and translate the entire Samus & Joey series, and have finally completed work on Metroid EX, making the entire storyline complete.

Great, a kid sidekick for Samus.
Just what I always wanted...
Well, let's see how this goes. And if it's awful, I can safely shrug it off as non-canon.
@Galvanic_Arcvn
As a comic book fan, I can reassure you - any non-canon work is assigned to another fictional universe, parallel to the canonical one. This is, among Metroid universes, "the one with the sidekick". Keep in mind it's not canonical and enjoy it as it is.
Bleh.
@Genesaur - Am I the only one who s**t themselves laughing at what this guy said.
I only non Metroid game thing I take as canon is the Manga before "Metroid".
I also like to think Other: M happened while Samus was unconscious during the X parasite contaminated her suit during the crash in Fusion and Other: M was just some bad, run downed story of her struggling to keep her sanity while being unconscious which is why she acts so vulnerable.
Anyway, peace out.

...Wait, what about me? I'm famous now?
Are you sure it's legal to promote scanlation work? I know this is a respectable effort, but don't think it should make into news.
I'll read it when I have the time.
