The Games Done Quick events - of which there are two every year - are the pinnacle of the goodwill and fundraising possible within gaming. Many notable and wonderful organisations raise money for charity, and this is among the most successful.
Summer Games Done Quick has finished for another year and has raised an incredible amount of money for Doctors Without Borders - its final total was $1,231,954.89, raised from 28453 donations. Extraordinarily the highest individual donation was a huge $21,498.00, while the average donation was a highly impressive $43.30.
Amazingly, the legendary Super Metroid race raised $359,941.62 on its own, as always with lots of votes for 'saving' or 'killing' the animals; check that out below.
We recommend checking out the Summer Games Done Quick YouTube Channel, and be sure to visit the official website, too.
Congratulations to all involved, the past week and the money raised was an outstanding achievement.

I tune in for the retro gaming. It's a great stream and a cool charity event
Wow, well done, good job all involved
The animals lived.
I think the Mega Man 4 and Super Mario 64 races were far more exciting than the Super Metroid race, because they were very tight. Mega Man 4, in particular, had an impressive series of comebacks that resulted in a photo finish of sorts.
Good. I missed it, sadly, but it's good that they managed to raise that much money.
Tuned in a little now and then. Amzing job, as always.
Seems like a cool event and I think it is awesome they managed to raise so much. Just wish I had time to watch it and donate
Donated something myself this year. It's a great event and I love all the insight that the runners give for the games they run.
I'll have to find out when the next event is running and put in a donation. Well done guys! Ps now I want to make some Super Metroid mugs like that Kraid one
@NintendoFan64 @dadajo — They're uploading everything on YouTube - Their name is "Games Done Quick". They also have a winter event called "Awesome Games Done Quick" in January (or late December).
@vincentgoodwin Thanks for the head's up.
I donated and got a t-shirt ^_^
Always humbled by what the gaming community can do. Great work everyone and I'm so glad an event like this exists.
@KodyDawg He was on a world record run but messed up towards the end. The animals were saved but it would have been a bummer if he would have had a world record but the donations made him lose it
