Over the course of the weekend there was some exciting news for fans of challenging, intriguing narrative-driven puzzle games - Zero Escape Volume 3 was announced for a release in the first half of 2016. It's coming to the 3DS, naturally.
The next entry follows on from 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors on DS and Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward, it's being published by Aksys Games and is once again being led by Kotaro Uchikoshi, with around 50% of the scenarios already written out.
Now there's a video of a panel from Anime Expo 2015, at which the game was revealed. In this session Uchikoshi-san talks a little about the game, including confirmation that it'll be set on a Mars colony, while those that like to see a dog in their favourite video games will also have that particular wish fulfilled. It was fan reaction to previous news that this game would likely never happen that prompted Aksys to think again and fund this new entry.

It's well worth a watch, though we suggest a pair of headphones with decent volume.

My credit card has been attached to my monitor since this game was announced.
I'm throwing cash and eShop pre-paid cards at the screen but nothing is happening.
Calling it now: they make you think the game is taking place on a Mars colony, but you're really in a ship in the middle of the desert on Earth. #predictable
Since we're speculating: the game actually takes place on Jupiter and everyone but you is a cyborg.
BE QUIET AND OBTAIN MY UNITS OF CURRENCY!
Assuming that dog is a replacement for that rabbit from the last game
Still need to play the first two. Maybe they can bundle the trilogy together as a limited edition
Yes!!!
There's no point in me even trying to guess the plot twists or the reasons for being on Mars since I always get it wrong. That's probably for the best, since unpredictable things are always fun.
One of the many things I love about this series is that I never know what's going to happen next, or whether the next story choice will have dire consequences.
@Radbot42 a bundle with all 3 games would be perfect!
I really hope we get physical copies to complete my collection.
This isn't really news for people who got the True Ending in VLR, but it is still good to hear more details on it.
That was a really interesting video! I need to play Danganronpa some time. Physical edition please!
Schrödinger's cat on a spaceship brought to Mars, where getting the true ending changes history and Mars can now be terraformed due to People from Earth in danger due to natural calamities.
The original quote did not say the game takes place on Mars. They said it's set in a test facility.
That picture always makes me jump. Zero is not somebody I'd like to meet in a confined space.
The game doesn't take place on Mars. It will take place at a Mars mission test site in Vancouver. This is common knowledge to anyone who finished VLR.
