Even after the launch of its very own service – Miiverse – for Wii U & 3DS, Nintendo is still warming to the concept of social media at a rather slow pace.
Facebook and Twitter have proven the house of Mario is to some extent willing to connect with its fan base while at the same time provide updates, announcements and information about the latest happenings.
With these two social media platforms developing into an important aspect of the company's marketing and advertising phases over the past couple of years, Nintendo is now looking to broaden its connections with the assistance of the video messaging and live streaming services, Snapchat and Periscope.
Nintendo’s Snapchat is already filled with humour while its Periscope page will be used to keep fans up to date with next month’s E3. Take a look at the Twitter announcements below:

Let us know in the comments how you feel about Nintendo joining Snapchat and Periscope.

I just stick to blogs for my communication. Major social media sites aren't my thing
Haha say what !
why are we talking about this when bloodstained just anounced it's wiiu stretch goal?
This thing was used for sexting at one point. Amazing.
"Stuff that isn't on Windows Phone, take 1."
I can live with Snapchat, their first posts seem pretty cool.
Periscope is still clearly in development and not availlable to many devices, so I'm not really a fan of it yet.
I specifically like what NoE is doing on Twitter and Facebook, their social media team has some pretty good humour.
I'm not familiar with Periscope, could someone explain what it is to me?
@Warbeard Another WP user! I think Snapchat is coming to Windows Phone, according to a (deleted) tweet.
@Retro_on_theGo
Guess what? Almost all social media platforms have been used for sexting. It's nothing new.
@Inkling It's about time! I can't believe they had the unofficial app closed
I can't wait to get half naked selfies from Luigi.......Isn't that what snap chat is for?
I think I'll check out Periscope during E3...not sure why I'd want to see Snap Chats from them.
Cool hype is getting higher everyday
Good decision for Nintendo. This is a great way to build their brand through social media. http://5starblog.com/tag/nintendo/
Just threaten photoshopped nude Wario pics until we get Mother 3.
@Warbeard Heh, tell me about it! I do own a Windows Phone because I really like the interface, and how it connects to my PC. Luckily I'm really, really, REALLY not into doing a lot of stuff on my phone - I hate touchscreen keyboards, and pretty much just use the phone to make calls, take pictures and message people on What's App. Otherwise I'd be pretty pissed about the amount of apps it misses out on.
As far as these news... fine, I guess? Nintendo is already on quite a few social media. The real good news would be if they decided to start being less "corporate" in them. As it is, I'm never as excited to see, say, a Nintendo tweet as I am when I see tweets by other companies that actually interact with their Twitter fanbase, such as Playtonic or Midnight City.
awesome!
I've never even heard of Periscope, and I've never used Snapchat. Sounds like something that would be in tune with Nintendo Minute's style.
I'm shocked since Nintendo tries to stay away from abuse like What was done with swapnote. I still think they bailed out of swapnote too soon. Almost like they were looking for an excuse to cancel that service.
@Windy I wasn't too fond of Swapnote anyhow.
Guess they gave Reggie something to do
