Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold: The Fafnir Knight is set to be quite the content rich package, featuring two parallel game modes that promise to offer roughly the same amount of content. The newest mode, Story Mode, will follow the adventures of the Fafnir Knight and be much more focused on story and feature a fixed party for the duration of the campaign. Classic Mode, on the other hand, will be much more open ended, allowing players to customize characters and parties as they see fit and allowing players to draw their own maps as they explore mazes.
Classic Mode will act as a sort of remake of Etrian Odyssey II: Heroes of Lagaard, featuring revamped dungeon layouts and improved graphics. There will be 13 character classes to choose from, ranging from mainstays such as Alchemists and Landsknechts to fan favourites like Beasts and War Magi. Grimoire Stones, a new feature introduced in Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millenium Girl, will also allow characters to use other classes' unique skills. Here's a video and some screenshots showcasing it all in action:

I'm excited for any new EO game, but I'm especially pleased to see the Highlander featured in this one; it's one of my favorite front-line classes, and I wondered whether or not they would keep it in Classic mode.
Seems pretty cool.... That's all I got...
@Benjelo I agree. Never really got into this series but... seems pretty cool.
This definitely has me interested.
That one screenshot...the player has 97 million en...that is insane...
Once this gets to Europe, hopefully sometime in 2016, I'll probably go straight ahead to the Story mode. It hasn't been that long since I fully completed the original EO2, so the breath of fresh air will be appreciated.
I also need to get around to EO1U. Just need to finish EO3 first, it's the last of the original games I have yet to complete and I'm about to get to the post-game after getting all endings.
Hopefully the game has two parallel saves for the Classic and Story mode. I haven't bought Millenium Girl yet, but having to delete one save in order to play the other mode just does not sit well with me.
Game looks great. Obviously graphics are not as great as EOIV but for a remake it looks pretty neat. I really liked EOIV and the SMT game inspired from it (Strange Journey sans map making though), so will definitely get this later. Will last a long long time of JRPG dungeon crawling goodness.
Love the specific look and art style in the 3D sections. Wish some more AAA developers would make their big AAA games look more like this in terms of that kind of classic painted artwork, that really captures the look of the best 16-bit sprite based console and arcade games or even classic 80s cartoons but in full 3D, rather than the kinda generic gritty monotone rendered look most of them go for.
This is how I always imagined say a game like Dungeons & Dragons arcade would look artistically if it were done properly in 3D. So many games could genuinely benefit from trying to go a bit more down this route in terms of their modern 3D visuals.
@Kirk
Agreed, nice take on the game and graphics.
@LasermasterA I actually remember reading that Untold 2 would have multiple save slots. It's something they should have included in the first Untold title already, but I'm just glad we're at least getting that now.
Excited, but waiting for the price drop.
@LinkSword
Oh great! Now buying Untold 2 has become a bigger priority to me than buying Untold 1
