Excited cinema goers will be rushing in droves to see the latest instalment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Avengers: Age of Ultron hits the silver screen in Europe later this week. (Sorry North America, you'll have to wait until 1st May).
Of course, every cinematic blockbuster such as this has a videogame tie-in of some kind and this is no exception. Zen Studios' fun pinball simulation Zen Pinball 2 already features other Marvel Pinball tables, but soon we'll be able to experience the delights of toppling the fiendish Marvel baddy Ultron with nothing other than pinball wizardry.
The Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron table will allow players to relive the struggle of Earth's mightiest heroes, including Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow, and Hawkeye against Ultron and his seemingly endless army. The table features dedicated game modes for each member of the Avengers team, including a first-person sharpshooting mini-game starring Hawkeye, a spectacular aerial melee combat sequence between Iron Man and Ultron, and selectable difficulty levels (Easy, Medium, or Hard) to cater to each player's individual skill level.
On Zen Studios' blog, the firm shared a little about the fun and games of creating a pinball table based on a big blockbuster movie like Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron:
It's both exhilarating and a bit overwhelming to base a pinball table on a film as it is being made! Often times, final decisions about the film (like costumes, lines, etc.) have not even been made while we're designing the table, so we have to be able to change with the film as needed. It really keeps us on our toes! We also have to stay true to the filmmakers' vision while still creating something uniquely fun. Piece of cake, right?
Timing a table release with a film's release is always a challenge; we have to be careful that there are no leaks, and most of all, no movie spoilers! Marvel's Avengers is a hulk of a franchise (pun intended!) and we cannot express how proud we are that Marvel trusts us to do the job well. We're stoked to be a part of this and that we get to share it with all of you. We truly hope you enjoy this table, the film, and more Marvel adventures yet to come.
The Avengers: Age of Ultron DLC will be coming to Zen Pinball 2 on PS3, PS4, Vita, Mac, Steam, Xbox 360, Xbox One, iOS, Android, and Amazon between 21st and 23rd April. Unfortunately for Marvel fans, the Wii U release is currently listed as TBA. Could this be the work of the fiendish Ultron to upset superhero loving Wii U owners? Let us know if you are looking forward to this new table with a comment below.

I always welcome new tables and at least Zen is one of the few companies still giving Wii U support but by the time this coming soon is out the hype for the movie would be died down.
Still I welcome anything new. Now where's the last Star Wars pack? It's been over a year now!
Wow, they can get every other version out in the space of a couple of days, yet the WiiU is MiA. Well done Zen.
I'm still wish Zen would bring the rest of the tables we're missing, especially the Street Fighter table.
Kind of off-topic, but I saw the movie last night at the UK premiere and it was utterly fantastic. The first movie pales in comparison. Having managed to avoid all the trailers and clips, the whole experience was brand new and simply beautiful. I've now watched the trailers and honestly very little of it is from the 2nd half of the film. It is immpossible to tell what the final battle is about. The film is completely unexpected, and there's lots of character development this time around. Don't be surprised if your favourite character actually turns out to be Hawkeye.
Age of ultron premieres today in the netherlands, I'm going to see it tomorrow.
Amazon but not Wii U?
This is lame, isn't it?
Ugh Avengers is so overrated,it kills me.
Hm, I'll wait for the demo. The voices and table layout seem to be a little lacking...
I would imagine it will be a while before this hits WiiU... unless they fast-tracked it ahead of the final Star Wars pack and the Castlestorm/Western pack.
@holygeez03 Yeah.... I bought the second star wars pack on Xbone.... and will likely do the same for any other interesting tables. Releasing Star Wars a year late is pretty bogus. They can't blame anybody but themselves for poor Wii U sales. Oddly, I would think that the Wii U would be a good profile, given the type of gamer this is geared toward- more casual arcade style.....
Well, there are numerous quotes from Zen regarding the difficulty of working with the eShop... so I guess they can blame Nintendo a little. I have purchased the vast majority of their tables on PS3, in order to keep them in one place, so they can be imported on to an eventual PS4, and obviously because they come out sooner. But I like to buy the occasional table/pack on WiiU to play on the Gamepad...
I'm not sure what to think.
Wii U and 3DS support is slow, the quality of ports is relatively low, and there are often bugs or issues that are simply ignored instead of being fixed. Certainly I should feel happy about this news - or about any support coming to the Wii U platform - but it's hard to get excited about announcements from Zen Studios given the circumstances.
(To clarify: I don't even blame Zen Studios - Wii U development probably isn't that profitable or a high priority, and I understand that. But the whole "it's better than nothing" approach doesn't really work for me.)
@TwilightAngel I agree
@ejamer What 3DS Support. The Wii U Games always get something new where as the 3DS Version has gotten nothing in terms of DLC.
@Robo-Knight
They've put out three games for 3DS - a set of original tables, Marvel tables, and Star Wars tables. I know it's not the same as constant DLC, but it's still pretty awesome for people who want a pinball fix on the go. (It would just be more awesome if there weren't significant bugs left unfixed in some games.)
I've never known anyone who actually has this game let alone puts money into it and it's been cross platform for ages and even showed up in the top 10 of different download shops, WiiU included. The demos are usually quick and tell me nothing about what I'm getting into with this either. Yeah Pinball, but is that it? Big whoop.
I've already bought about a dozen tables, plus the star wars standalone, so I'll be ok for a while.
I have a few tables on Vita and about half a dozen on Android (Chromecast works pretty well to get it on a big screen). I'd like to support the Wii U, but that means only being able to play whatever tables at home. :/
Don't know if I'll get the Avengers table yet. Maybe I'll check out a LP on Youtube.
