With Nintendo starting out as a card company, it’s no surprise it still pays respect to its beginnings with regular releases of both classic Japanese hanafuda cards and more commonly known card games here in the west.
The latest addition to this long-line is a set of Pokémon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire playing cards. Set for release in Japan this March, the packs will feature Deoxys on the Omega Ruby joker card and Jirachi on the Alpha Sapphire one. The four king cards in the set will feature Mega Evolutions of the starter Pokémon from the latest remakes, along with Rayquaza’s Mega.
These latest set of cards follows the previously released Pokémon X & Y cards in 2013, and are for now, exclusive to Japan.
Let us know in the comments if you would like to see these playing cards make their way over to the west in the near future.

Thats preatty cool actually, i play alot of card games, I WANT IT D:
Back to the origins(sort of).
Those are indeed stylish.
Now, those are nice and all, but it makes me wonder... Pokémon Hanafuda set WHEN, Nintendo? I hate to say that something would print money, but that... that might just print some money.
You can order these on Amazon Japan (very cheap too at 540 yen; things like the Zelda and SMB ones are twice that). However, the shipping is so expensive you would need to order several for it to be worthwhile (and/or use a forwarding service) and I'm not sure if they actually toys outside of Japan.
The XY cards are also there at 385 yen but are add-on items only (you need to spend 2500 yen to be able to put them in your basket).
Just to be useful a link to the Sapphire cards:

@tudsworth That reminds me of some of the licensed Pokemon games out there including:
Pokemon Uno: http://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B00827PROM
Pokemon Pom Jong (it is basically a kids version of Mahjong): http://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B00DDE6AG8/
I have a playing card collection, so these would fit perfectly! I was happy that I was able to get the Legend of Zelda 25th anniversary cards way back in 2013 (two years after the anniversary, but what evvs).
Well, at least these aren't region-locked....I hope.
@tudsworth They already made those. You can likely find a set to import on amazon. Since I have the Mario ones I hadn't bothered getting another set but thanks for reminding me. May pick up a deck next payday.
