The Inazuma series from Level 5 is rather popular in Japan, and based on the increasing number of localised titles it's also a relative hit in Europe. Though there's always an element of playing catch-up in the EU, the titles continue to arrive, with Inazuma Eleven GO: Light & Shadow being the first of the spin-off releases - developed from the ground-up for 3DS - in the region last Summer. Nintendo of Europe has now announced that the second set of releases from that series, Inazuma Eleven GO Chrono Stones: Wildfire & Thunderflash will arrive in the region on 27th March.
In this entry the plucky team captain Arion Sherwind apparently discovers that Raimon Junior High's exploits in football are forgotten, with Baseball taking over as the national sport in Japan. In what'll likely be a typically bonkers story he'll "tackle the shadowy intentions of El Dorado - the World's governing council - and face off against time-bending villains in order to restore football to the world". Each version will have unique content and story tweaks, which is the same trick we see in Pokémon, of course, while Level 5 itself has been doing this with the Inazuma franchise - and recently in Yo-kai Watch - for a number of years.
These sequels will also continue to use the polygon-based art style and some of the new features from the first GO titles - such as The Fighting Spirit system. There'll be new mechanics, too, with the following press release extract summing it up.
Exciting new gameplay innovations make their debut in Inazuma Eleven GO Chrono Stones: Wildfire and Inazuma Eleven GO Chrono Stones: Thunderflash. Seen for the first time in an Inazuma series title is the new Miximax feature, where one player can merge their aura with that of another player to become even more powerful. Miximaxing unlocks the potential for countless combinations of player skills and stat-boosts and, when coupled with the new wearable armourfied Fighting Spirits, Inazuma Eleven GO Chrono Stones: Wildfire and Inazuma Eleven GO Chrono Stones: Thunderflash offer the most comprehensive team-building possibilities yet seen in the series.
We were relatively impressed with the first GO release in Europe, awarding 7/10 in our review. Are you a fan with plans to give the sequel a shot? Let us know.

I'll be all over this. I felt that IE:GO was a big step up in the gameplay department from the DS trilogy. Everything just felt far more streamlined, so that when something went wrong during a match, I could actually blame myself, and not the game.
Also, that story is insane, and I love it. It's IE:2's alien invasion plot all over again.
I enjoy this series, hopefully the third installment will be released in 2016.
Excellent news. Level 5 never disappoints.
I'd like it if they jumped to the 3DS games in this series for America. They only released the first game which is fun, but I'd like to see a modern game of it.
I have yet to play any of the Inazuma Eleven Go! Games, but will get them, as I like Level 5's other 3DS games ^^ (yet to play Yōkai Watch)
I was able to find the Japanese version of GO Dark online easy, and bought it. It's just difficult to find an English version in the US, eBay isn't about cheap. I'd love to get my hands on the European version of GO Shadow and Light, does anyone have a copy they don't want and willing to ship to the US Or know a place to get it cheap.
On topic, so happy to hear IE GO is getting some more love from Level-5 Europe.
@Drac_Mazoku Yes the characters have something akin to superpowers but only when they are playing soccer(its weird i know).
@Drac_Mazoku It's a series about a world where football is extremely serious and powerful business. At times very silly but very fun and enjoyable because they don't back down from taking it seriously. IIRC the third game for example envisioned a future where football is outlawed and a military organisation travels back in time to stop the nefarious hobby! It's so much fun.
More Level 5! More Inazuma!
Though I'm not done yet with the original trilogy, I'm very pleased to read this, and I'll jump straight into Go when I've finished the third installment. Also very excited for Yokai, Level 5 has become my fave third party developer over the past few years.
Perfect timing!!!
I literally bought the first GO game few hours ago and the main reason of the purchase was for start the new trilogy in hope that Chronostone would be announced for Europe. Didn't expect my hopes to be reassured so quickly XD
Blegh, America only just got the first IE game. Come on, Level-5...

@IAmDeclanJay I know, they're expensive, though, even without the shipping costs. Thanks though!
Already got Inazuma Eleven 1 and Inazuma Eleven 2 blizzard and Firestorm. I live in Europe so when this comes out I will buy it. I'm going to buy all the Inazuma games in Europe. Inazuma Eleven fan 4ever.
