Adrian Goersch of Black Forest Games revealed in an interview with Red Bull that a new game in the Giana Sisters series should be expected in early 2016.
With an HD Director's Cut of Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams arriving on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One – but sadly not Wii U – in the near future, Goersch explains that despite their current project DieselStörmers the developer hasn't forgotten about its recently-acquired heroines:
Expect a new Giana early 2016. Also we are considering bringing the Dream Rush multiplayer mode we just released for PC to consoles if it is received well by the community.
Given the positive reception to Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams on all the platforms it was released on, it's no surprise that a sequel is on the table. Goersch also expressed Black Forest Games' desire to bring Twisted Dreams to other systems:
Why not tablets with a controller? We believe it could work. Wii U owners love playing Giana Sisters on the console's GamePad. We also would love to do a PS Vita version but that is not a priority currently.
The potential for this series is enormous, and the last entry showed us just how much there is left to tap in the platform genre, so we've got our hopes aimed precariously high. Are you as excited as we are to see what the developer has in store for us in 2016? Let us know by leaving a comment below.

Why do you guys keep reporting on games that are not coming on the Nintendo platform. You are giving them extra coverage for doing nothing.
@megamanlink you should reread the article. sounds to me like the developer wants to bring it to the wiiu
Soundsa good! I enjoyed what I've played of Giana Sisters: TD so more is going to be awesome Now to finish the game before 2016...
never heard of giana sisters till recently.......
I want Dieselstormer on Wii U. I seem to recall the Kickatarter including a Wii U version...
More Giana Sisters could be good, but 60fps needs to be a priority and the controls could use some polish.
Please, please, please... Release that update you promised to get the Twisted Dreams audio working on the Gamepad. I do a lot of off-screen play, so the no gamepad audio bit was a deal-breaker for me.
Also, why is the download for Twisted Dreams over 3 Gbytes for a 2D game? Many first-party 3D retail titles are smaller...
And NLife, redbull.com is a news source for video games now?
I enjoyed Twisted Dreams, actually. I got it on sale for $6, for owning Mighty Switch Force. I would keep my eye out for a sequel. The Director's Cut not coming to Wii U makes sense. It more about timing than anything, really. Wii U has had the game for like, over a year. The same thing is happening for Nano Assault Neo, for PS4, I think. It's not that big of a deal, because we already have a version of the game. It would be nice if they let us upgrade our versions as DLC, but that probably won't happen.
This is the second game I've heard about in the last few days coming out in early 2016. Can't I enjoy my holiday 2014 before thinking about 2016? Couldn't the companies have announced these before Thanksgiving? Just seems like weird timing for small companies making indie games to announce them more than a year out.
I hope it comes to the wiiu, I actually hope all of black forrest games come to us. It was an amazing game though the patch that was never released for the sound was disappointing and was a little let down that the dlc was never offered to the wiiu. It was in my top 5 best games for 2013
Hopefully they'll develop something that's more faithful to the Commodore 64 original. The character swap mechanic in Twisted Dreams was irritating. I wish they'd just stick to pure and simple platforming fun, with ace controls and level design.
The standalone DLC for Giana Sisters is brilliant on PC. MIght as well be a different game it is loads better (Although the original is not locked to 30fps any more so it is better as well).
How about updating Twisted Dreams on WiiU so there's audio playing out of the gamepad?
To be fair, as a Vita owner, nothing seems to be a priority for the poor thing.
I still haven't heard about a patch for Twisted Dreams. There's no sound on the Gamepad
I'm confused about one thing. So twisted dreams is getting a HD version, but isn't the one for the Wii U HD already?
as it stands, my most anticipated eshop game for 2016. was my number 1 last year as well.
Giana Sisters DS > Twisted Dreams
@umegames Out of curiosity, what would that be?
The ONLY reason I haven't gotten this game yet is due to the lack of sound in the Gamepad. Same goes for Ittle Dew. If those were patched these devs would already have my money.
For everyone who has asked, we're popped the question to Black Forest Games about the audio on the GamePad and will post something up when we hear back.
Reason it's not confirmed for Wiiu,it sold like crap, but seriously release that patch to put sound back on the gamepad.
Someone needs to port Giana Sisters DS to the eshop. It's a real gem.
"Wii U owners love playing Giana Sisters on the console's GamePad."
yeah the same way I love watching movies on me mum's broken telly
A HD version of an already HD game? So does that mean it's HDHD, displaying in 2160p or something?
Great game with some issues. Will finish it once gamepad sound is fixed.
The last gianna sister's game was brilliant
I didn't like the recent one so I doubt I'll be getting this one.
In Europe anyway, the patch to fix the sound on the Game Pad has been out for quite a few months. I have been dipping into Giana Sisters every so often, and usually play it on the Game Pad. The path fixed the sound perfectly, and like I said, has been about for a few months now. Maybe some people shoukd check the Miierse official posts every now nd then, it was announced way back.
@Mrclaycoat Giana sisters
Looking forward to it! Twisted dreams is great!
