True heroes let their combo skills mete out justice!

If you enjoy your puzzle games with opponents and real-time arcade style, then please allow a new Professor to make your acquaintance.

Action-puzzler Heroes Never Lose: Professor Puzzler's Perplexing Ploy has already surpassed its Kickstarter goal, and the acquisition of a Wii U development license means the game is already slated for Nintendo's home console as well. A 3DS version of the game currently sits as a CDN $30,000 stretch goal.

Heroes Never Lose makes no attempt to hide its connections to predecessors such as Puyo Puyo and Puzzle Fighter. Forging and matching up blocks on your side of the screen will cause a rainbow of junk to build up in your opponent's well in classic fashion. What the new game adds to the mix is a selection of quirky super-powered heroes and villains, each with unique, board-altering attacks once their meters are filled.

The crew behind Heroes Never Lose looks to share a love of classic action-puzzlers and a goofy sense of humour. Also, alliteration. The smooth pixel art style looks like a pretty good fit, and seriously, it has a guy named Gun Nut who literally fires peanuts at his foes. Yes, we know Diddy Kong did it first. But is he named Gun Nut? No.

Is Heroes Never Lose something you're looking to gain?
