As you may be aware, Australia got its first Nintendo Direct today, and the big news is that it's going to be one of the first regions outside of Japan to get the New 3DS and New 3DS XL.
As well as putting the Direct online for non-Aussies to watch, Nintendo Australia has produced another, shorter clip which shows off the console in more detail. It's largely the same footage we saw back when the systems were announced in Japan, but it's still well worth watching — and listening to.

Yay for Australia and New Zealand!
You know I thought I was done buying these things, but I cannot imagine my daughter won't want the upgrade even if she doesn't play with it quite as much as she used to. Could be the XL will have more appeal now...
I think Australia really deserves this, considering they had to taste the last-region whip for that long and had somewhat outdated laws relating to games - they had it rough with gaming.
Besides, I can still get it due to EU region, and importing is a rather nice task this time around since the pricing is surprisingly generous!

@Kaze_Memaryu
So you can play EU cartridges on it?
My friend has imported 3DS games from EU and we both have imported Wii U games from EU.
@BensonUii Yep, Australia still shares the same region code for games with us europeans. Importing might get a bit more pricey when taking taxes into account, but I can actually live with that price.
Thanks. I might get it on New Zealand if I couldn't wait longer for the EU release.
@BensonUii Don't you know Australia and Europe are the best of PALs?

@Kaze_Memaryu €151? That's cheap. Hopefully Game Mania has a discount for it if you bring in your XL.
I have a question (triffling, but all the same): Will the New 3DS have more than three slots for WiFi settings? My only issue about the 3DS is the need to constantly alter WiFi settings whenever I visited friends or family.
I thought those Home Menu themes were hitting the current 3DS models too...
@Kaze_Memaryu Yeah, they deserve it. I feel bad for them, as they don't get all the games (mind you, we don't either)
so, 3d from more degree of angle? how'd they accomplish that!!!? can they apply this to hd tv's so you dont need glasses?
faster internet? nice
2 shoulder buttons on both sides!!!!? awesome
@UnseatingKDawg
They will in an update.
Whoa...I didnt know the face plates were like that. I thought they were just shells like the ones currently on the market. Cool that they affect the home screen background and stuff. I was always wishing there was some way to change that although I would like it more if you could set an SD card picture as background. Still need my XL though...
I am totally getting a New 3DS XL to accompany my 3DS and 3DS XL brothers.
@invictus4000 The Menu customizations will be available in an update soon, it has nothing to do with the custom plates.
@mushroomer Is this new to you?
@mushroomer The 3D can be viewed from more angles because the cameras no track the motion of your head.
@Kaze_Memaryu Nice to know the price in £, thanks. This may have to be my first console import. I want a New 3DS so badly, I'm still running my original launch day ambassador 3ds.
@Weedy Hahaha, what a coinkydink! I also still have my ambassador 3DS, and I'm not gonna part with it for the N3DS!
But, just for info, don't rely on the price list too hard. Taxes are gonna hit this hard, since imports from AUS are among the most expensive stuff, I think. So, for the final price with shipping, you might need to add another 10-15£ to the order... though I still think it's a formidable price! Hell, it's cheaper than any 3DS or 3DS XL for new here in germany!
@UnseatingKDawg They are, it's part of the major system update coming in october.
I'm disappointed you guys didn't use the classic kangaroo picture for this article.
WTFFFF NOA I WANT MY NEW XL model!!! CRIES I assume i can't play US games on it?
@luckybreak you certainly can't play US games on it. We feel that sting every time you guys get a game a few months before us.
