Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy arrived in Europe recently, bringing a close to the series in its current form. Unfortunately North American gamers only had a vague 2014 release window, but during today's Nintendo Direct festivities it was confirmed that the 3DS title will finally arrive in the region on 28th February next year.
This sixth and final entry — though Level-5 is likely to continue the Layton brand in various forms, with Layton 7 already announced — brings an end to the prequel trilogy, and to our adventures with the tea-drinking, puzzle solving Professor of Archaeology. The gentleman and his faithful apprentice Luke have served fans well over the DS and 3DS eras, and we feel that the concluding part gives a fitting finale — we said the following in our Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy review:
If Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy really is the end of an era, it's a fitting sign-off. Hershel Layton and his companions have been wonderful additions to the DS and 3DS systems, bringing gracious simplicity and charm with each release. This concluding entry captures the best of the new and old, and is indispensable to fans of the franchise. Farewell Professor, you truly have been a gentleman and a scholar.
Another pleasing piece of news is that the game has the same name in North America as in Europe, avoiding more cross-region name confusion. A puzzle solved!
Will any of you in North America be picking this up on 28th February?

Super excited for this one. Can't wait to solve the last game in the (main?) series!
Later than I would have liked. Oh well.
I'll be at target at 8:00 AM sharp!
Can Layton solve the mystery of why his North American and European localizations are so completely different???
I am going to be one depressed gentleman when I finish this game... Very bittersweet.
Don't worry, folks! We'll have Layton 7. Whatever... the... heck... it... is... stares into the distance
Will any of you in North America be picking this up on 28th February?
