After some doubt and confusion over the past year, we suspect a good number of 3DS and RPG fans were relieved when Bravely Default: Flying Fairy was confirmed for the West by Square Enix. Confirmation of Bravely Default: For the Sequel in Japan naturally had us wondering which version of the game we'd receive, so news that we'll receive the updated version was welcome.
Compared to the original release, For the Sequel has various tweaks to the formula such as improved visuals, new events and adjustments to make the general interface and experience more intuitive. The battle mechanics will also be switched up, moving away from a standard turn-based system.
With The Tokyo Game Show into full swing, Square Enix will no doubt be plugging this adjusted version to the Japanese public, where the original performed well commercially. As a result we have the rather appealing trailer below, and even if it doesn't explain a great deal it gives us an idea of what to expect. And the music is awesome.

Looking forward to this one.
I was waiting for this game since I saw it a few years back.
I really want this game but I'm scared about the new battle system I was looking forward to classic turn based battles, hope the change is not too radical
@ferthepoet
It's still turn based but they've added a couple of new features like an auto-battle option.
This is great news, I was hoping this game would get localized. Getting the updated "for the sequel" version makes this even more interesting.
Totally looking forward to this. The 3DS is getting to be an absolutely awesome JRPG machine.
"For the Sequel"? What the heck kinda subtitle is that? I thought it was a typo or something lol.
Anyways game looks awesome. ^_^
Something interesting I found on the Japanese site. The updated version is going to have a multilingual option for the Japanese release, with Japanese and English audio options and text available in Japanese, English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish.
I'm guessing since they've done the audio and text translations for the western versions, they decided to add these to the Japanese version. Guessing the western versions will have these as well.
@cybernature based on the information on the Japanese site, that was chosen because it is literally because this version was born out of testing they were doing for the actual sequel, and because of positive feedback they had, they decided to release an updated version of the original with the changed implemented. Its literally a test for the gameplay mechanics they created "for the sequel".
Man, I'm so excited for this. Classic SNES-era JRPG gameplay is sadly a rarity these days (the last one I played was the incredible Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of Starry Skies on my old DS). And this one is even by Square, or whatever's left of the company.
I have high hopes!
Can't wait to finally get to play a ture SquareEnix game on my Nintendo system! Its been far too long. The last one I played was the remake of IV for the DS!
Already got this pre-ordered. Can't wait for this game. It's my most anticipated game for 2014.
Is it just me or is Square Enix finally becoming good again? I mean, Kingdom Hearts 3, Final Fantasy 15(which looks SWEET!), and Bravely Default:Flying Fairy. This game is my most anticipated 3ds game of 2014!
Getting this day one if it ever comes over here.
Okay .. I don't like everything this Company does.. but with this here.. Shut up and Take my Money..
@Relias You don't have to like anything Capcom does if you don't want to as this is Square Enix, (but omg what about Okami )
This game looks somewhat like final fantasy IX (and the ds remake of 4) which means... OMG GIMM GIMME
@SecondServing
Erm, none of those have been released.
So ready for this game!
I'm still kinda pissed about NA not getting this til 2014.
@AJWolfTill Never mentioned Capcom.. I was talking about Square Enix.. but I think we are in agreement.. on the Shut up and take my money part..
Woops not sure how I managed to missread that, but yes I believe we are
