Nintendo gamers should be familiar with some secondary treatment when it comes to online modes and DLC in triple-A releases; even when major titles bring all DLC to the Wii U, for example, the system often misses out on season ticket deals. While Batman: Arkham Origins on the Wii U will be missing the online multiplayer from other versions, it will receive the DLC season pass.
The season pass will offer additions to the main campaign as well as a series of skins, if you fancy beating on thugs in an alternative outfit. The pass will include five separate DLC packs, with the following confirmed as part of the deal.
- Gotham by Gaslight Batman Skin and Brightest Day Batman Skin
- New Millennium Skins Pack
- Infinite Earths Skins Pack
- Arkham Origins Initiation: Play as Bruce Wayne before he became Batman, and face his final test to prove himself worthy to his greatest teacher, Kirigi
- An all-new story campaign
That's guaranteed to all that buy the pass, which will cost £15.99 in the UK and $19.99 in the U.S., with the EU price likely to match that of North America. This'll apparently represent a saving of around $10 on buying each DLC item separately.
So it's a DLC pass for a Wii U multiplatform game, are you tempted?

meh, not really my kind of game, but a DLC pack with a discount is better than not having it
Id be tempted if it was less skins and more campaign dlc. Nice to have the option though!
Didnt realise we werent getting the online multiplayer, what reason did they give
I'm already getting the game, so I'll probably get this. Don't much care for the Skins, but I want that Story Campaign.
That's surprising.
Awesome, nice to know the Wii U version is getting the season pass DLC too.
Either give us the online multiplayer you sorely took away from us or lower the retail price for the WiiU version and we have a deal.
I'm really glad I choose not to buy this
@cookiex It is lowered. Check Amazon, it is 50 dollars instead of 60.
@Rogway
Fair enough, but is it just Amazon or will the MSRP be $10 lower?
@cookiex I don't know if the actual MSRP is lowered, but I think certain relaters have dropped down the price to 50 as well, such as Walmart
Well that's certainly good news. More of the same from now on!
Um... wow. I had no idea that the Wii U version would not include the Online Multiplayer mode. All this time I was sure that I'd be purchasing the Wii U version, but now I think I'll just get the PC version instead. What a bummer.
Not a Wii U owner (funds are low at the moment) but this is excellent news. Now lets see if others make the effort...
The best thing that the other consoles get is GOTY editions with all the DLC. That is the thing the Wii U should have.
i have not tried any of the batman games.. are they good ?
it is sad that wii u will be missing some features (as always).... although i dont really trust the wireless network in the wii u when gaming online in FPS games... why the ..... not make a RJ-45 port???!!!
This game is not on sale and the company is selling content apart, this is absurd. If a game is not on sale that content muy be inside the disc and if they create content months later the release then it is appropiate to sell it like DLC,
I too am old school, I prefer my games when they came complete in one neat package. I will probably not pick this up (the DLC I mean, I will surely get the game), but it's good the option is there for people who want even more content on what should be yet another awesome game in the franchise and a must have on Wii U.
Yay! Finally us Wii owners can buy a game and then spend even more money buying the content that should have been included with the original game! Alright!!!!!
.... pass.
I was already day one/midnight buying this game. I'll be investing in the season pass aswell.
Loved Arkham Asylum and City. I feel that it's too early for another Batman game, BUT it's a new experience on WiiU (I got the others on Xbox 360). I want to play this, but I will just have to see how my funds and time are, at the time of it's launch.
@cookiex
on amazon it's only 49.95
I don't mind DLC and I'm glad that the Wii U version will be getting some. What I HATE is DLC getting announced before the game is even released.
Now if this doesn't sell well, it will be the last season pass that's on the Wii U. For Wii U owners' sake I hope it sells well.
Season Passes are one of the worst things to come to video games in this generation.
Never knew what a season pass was and I don't care much for DLC I don't get the modern attitude nowadays that a game isn't considered complete unless it has DLC
Anyway i'll be getting the 3DS version of this cause it's much more my thing
£37.99 (Amazon UK) + £15.99 DLC = £53.99 No Thanks!
I really don't understand why people are so into DLC? You're basically paying full price for incomplete games.. and then paying extra to download the rest of it.
In saying that though, if you bought this with the DLC, it's still cheaper than Splinter Cell if you bought it from the eShop.. (that's SC without any DLC)
Remember back when our purchases actually got us full games? Ah, those were the days.
what the hell is a "season pass" ?
i dont get all this DLC-stuff. new levels okay but who the hell pays for some new costumes or skins???
@ricklongo
You do know that the DLC is being worked on separate from the Actual game right. Going by the Arkham City DLC you probably won't even be playing as Batman.
@6ch6ris6
A season pass is usually a $20 or more Pass that after you pay means your going to get all of the games upcoming content usually at a discount compared to buying it all separate. Most of the times season passes come with a mix of Multiplayer maps and single player content. compltly optional
Eh I bought spent a dollar to get the Batman Inc suit as its my favorite incarnation of the Batsuit that was in Arkham origins.
@Sony_70 It's still artificially separated from the game for the purposes of further milking the costumer, though. It's one thing to have eventual new content as a download option further in a game's lifespan, but the fact that this download content is going to be ready at the same time as the actual game suggests ill-will in the developer's part.
@ricklongo
Er the DLC won't be out till next year. They're just giving you the option to buy one now.
Quite why people want to pay for DLC that not only doesn't exist yet but also that is being made to a deadline is beyond me. DLC is the cancer of gaming.
Good for me.Payed off Origins and AC4 few weeks ago. Thanks Warner Bros.
Love how DLC production starts before the game is even released and then announced before the game is released and will most likely be available in the first month.
It's almost like these devs plan the DLC before pre-production even begins on the game. I can still remember the enjoyment of Resident Evil 2 when you had to get S ranks with both characters to unlock the 4th Surivivor mini-game, do t 3 times in a row to unlock Tofu. And also performn certain actions in the game to unlock costumes for your next play through. Those were REWARDING extras. Now we just have to pay for them.
And for this pack, the skins I could care less for. I already pre-ordered off Amazon for $50 with their $10 credit back, so $40 for the game might justify buying the 2 extra missions pack.
@withoutdk
Definately, considering you can get the Wii U version of Arkham City for ~£10 (and Darksiders 2 for that matter) you owe it to yourself to experience this incredibly awesome game.
I'll wait for GOTY edition. Even then I have to decide PC or Wii U.
I'm hoping this game lives up to my expectations... but until I've actually played the main game I don't see how I can plan if I want the DLC campaign or not. If it's 75% of the previous game, it will be worth it.
I thought the DLC for the last game was pretty weak.
I would like to see the prices for each DLC first, If the season pass works out to be same price as the campaigns I would probably pick it up
Glad to hear that the Wii U will be getting some DLC support. I wonder if this will also include the Deathstroke challenge maps.
Now I might buy it for the Wii U and not for my PC.
I'm VERY tempted, all those extras sound great!
I was worried that the "First Appearance Batman" skin wouldn't come to the Wii U version, since it seemed it'd only be available on the collector's edition sets for PS3 and 360.
I'd almost buy the whole pack for that skin alone!
Is the Wii U getting Pre-order bonus for this too?
Nintendo gamers: We want season pass and DLC and money off for no multiplayer or no buy!
Publisher: OK we'll give you the season pass, DLC, and ten dollars off the game because there isn't any multiplayer.
Nintendo gamers: Nope not buying the game, I'm going to get it for something else.
Buy the games, give them a chance, and maybe we can turn this damn situation around!!!
Watch the insults please — TBD
oh well i already pre ordered it for another console o_o
@cookiex
It is lowered. Amazon (and a few others) have the game listed for $49.99 instead of $59.99 like the other versions are. Furthermore, Amazon is offering a $10 credit on the game, taking the price down to virtually $39.99 (Amazon credit is as good as cash).
Doesn't get much lower than that my friend.
@DarkNinja9
You can get the Wii U version for $49.99 + $10 credit at Amazon, tax-free in 38 states + free shipping.
@KingofSaiyans
Why? The last 2 games didn't have multiplayer, and both of them were critically acclaimed as "game of the year". No one even knew this one was going to have multiplayer until a month ago anyways. So why would you pass up on a game that's only $39.99 on Wii U brand new, that's probably going to be the best game of the year, simply because it's missing some tacked-on needless feature that has never been in the previous games and was never SUPPOSED to be in the game in the first place?
So which is it people? 3rd parties release games and you say "I'm not buying it because it doesn't have DLC".
3rd parties release games with full DLC and online pass and you say "I'm not buying it unless it's cheaper".
3rd parties release games with full DLC and selling for only $39.99 on Amazon brand new and you say "I'm still not buying it".
What gives?
And the multiplayer thing? Yes, it always sucks to not have parity, but let's face it: none of the previous two Arkham games had multiplayer and they were both "Game of the Year" material. Why would this be any different? ALOT of games don't have multiplayer, does that mean you won't buy them either? No one buys a Batman Arkham game for multiplayer. You buy a Batman Arkham game for the single-player campaign, and we're getting that in spades with the gamepad integration.
So wait, I just went on Amazon and it said that the Deathstroke DLC is not included, but I thought it WAS confirmed for Wii U. The heck is going on?
I have Origins preordered for the Wii U. I don't really care about missing the multiplayer that much and maybe if it sells enough they'll patch it in later.
I'll probably buy the season pass too.
Game Company: We are going to make a new game.. for your system.. shows trailer.. it looks good and everything..
Nintendo Fans: Yeah.. Woo hoo... corks pop off wine bottles and everyone starts doing a happy dance...
Game Company: Oh did we mention it's going to have online multiplayer??
NF: Woohooo
GC: For everyone else but you...
NF: Boooo.. I am not buying it.. the company better discount it...
GC: okay we give you 10 dollar discount... and DLC.. and a Season Pass..
NF: Woohoo
GC: Of course a lot of the DLC could have been unlockable achievements in the game as thus making the game worth more.. by adding replay value...
NF: ?????
GC: oooooppppsss I mean uhm.. DLC and Season Pass with discount..
NF: Yeah... this is so much better let's run out and buy it... (At least what they are hoping for..)
Old Fart Gamer: Back in my day sonny... we used to get whole games...
GC: Shut Up...
New Age Gamer: OMG.... DLC.. look at all those skins.. and and.. OMG.. it's so awesome.. here take my wallet.. take it take it.. take it...
GC: Thank you... mwahahahahaha..
Imperial march plays..
Only reasons I can think of for this is
1. They are going to pull an EA like scam with online and Nintendo won't let them.
2. They honestly don't think there will be enough Wii U players to make it so it is even remotely usable.
(Quite liked the first two but never touched them until GOTY (Complete) editions existed).
Must be that the people who do buy the DLC offset people like me who won't touch stuff stuff like this.
(Rockstar DLC seems to be ok you can buy just a bit and play it without the game even).
Yeah, it is a weird saying for DLC... Back in the olden days a season pass got us into the movies or a theme park... Then we would ride our billycarts along the cobblestones and hike barefoot through thistles just to spend the rest of our threepence on penny whistles and moon pies
I'll probably jump on this. The game is already $10 cheaper on Wii U so I won't feel this expense as much.
I personally don't buy the argument that just because a game has dlc it is somehow incomplete. I'm not saying that is always the case but most of the games people bring this argument up on feel entirely complete and whole when played without any dlc. I feel its like you order a meal at a restaurant with a burger, fries, and a drink and you're completely happy with the combo and the price. But if given the exact same combo and are offered to add on an apple pie for a dollar and suddenly you're up in arms about your combo being incomplete. Don't get me wrong sometimes a game does feel somehow incomplete or somehow lacking but I feel most often the games do feel complete before the addition of dlc.
As for dlc being planned and started before the main game is complete, that's just necessary. You gotta plan what the content is going to be. Hell it might even include content that was cut from the main game. Remember, content got cut from games long before dlc, except that back then we just never saw that content again. Maybe they would be included in some form in a sequel if the game was lucky enough to get one but most often it just disappeared. You also have to plan deadlines and make sure you get production completed on time to meet those deadlines and that often means starting before the main game is finished.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying all dlc is good and great but I do feel a lot of gamers are a bit skewed in their view of dlc.
I'm getting the Wii u version, after seeing the multiplayer gameplay I won't be missing much
Paid DLC pisses me off. It is pretty low that they let you KNOW beforehand that they are not selling you a complete game. If they know and own all these skins and extra modes they should include them in the game already.
I don't know why everyone is whining about there not being Multiplayer for the Wii U version, guess what? Apparently For 360 and PS3 the Multiplayer is horendously bad any way, so we are missing anything and... we get it 10$ cheaper than them lol.
All the codes I got, which include: The Blackmask DLC, Deathstroke DLC, and the season pass I have unputed them. The Blackmask and Deathstroke DLC codes worked fine, but the season pass code is too long for the Wii U code input on the eshop so I am not sure what to do for that one.
