Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 has been available in North America for over a year now and has yet to emerge in Europe. UK-based publisher Ghostlight has the rights to release the DS game, however, the European market is a bit tricky these days and it would be taking a gamble to manufacture the game and get it to retailers, especially considering the DS doesn't get a lot of shelf space these days.
In order to reduce the risk, Ghostlight has opened pre-orders exclusively on its website and needs to receive 1,800 in order for it break even. Should it fail to meet that quota Devil Survivor 2 will remain unreleased.
There are two options for those looking to reserve a copy, one includes the standalone release of Devil Survivor 2, while the other includes 3DS title Devil Survivor Overclocked with a £10 discount. The two options are detailed below.
Option 1: Standalone Release
- Devil Survivor 2 (DS)
- This factory sealed edition will be available to all PAL territories and those pre-ordering from the site will have the option to include their name in the manual.
- Pre-ordered units will feature a special gold coloured Devil Survivor logo on the inlay.
- Pre-Order price £24.99/€29.99 (excluding postage and packaging).
Option 2: Devil Survivor Bundle
- Devil Survivor 2 (DS) and Devil Survivor Overclocked (3DS) with £10/ €10 discount.
- Both games will be factory sealed and as with Option 1, anyone pre-ordering the bundle will have the option to include their name in the manual.
- Pre-Order price £49.98/€59.98 (excluding postage and packaging).
- The bundle cannot be shipped to Germany due to an existing distribution agreement.
Pre-orders for Devil Survivor 2 will close on Friday 30th August, so Ghostlight has until then to achieve its 1,800 target between these two offers. Should it reach the goal then the publisher expects it to be released by the end of September. Should it not meet the quota, then everyone who ordered Devil Survivor 2 will receive a full refund, while people who ordered the bundle will have the option to receive Devil Survivor Overclocked with the £10/€10 discount.
There is the possibility that the 3DS remake of Devil Survivor 2 - which is to be released in Japan - will later emerge in the West, but Ghostlight believes there is enough demand to release the DS version now.
Will you be pre-ordering a copy? Let us know in the comment section below.

They should just skip Devil Survivor 2 and give Europe the 3DS one.
Well I had this pre-ordered for an absolute AGE, but it kept getting pushed back until it was taken down completely.
I'll pre-order this as I wanted this game, if it doesn't work out then that's also fine as I've got plenty of games already and I'll just wait for Break Record on the 3DS when it releases in 2020... unless Ninty buys Atlus
This games been on Amazon UK since the US release and its not listed as US import(Even though it is). I'm sure anyone who really wanted this already has it and is now waiting for the overclocked version.

EDIT: Guess not, seems like quite a few people are supporting this. Good on them i hope it makes the 1800 but i'll be waiting for 3DS overclocked version.
Yeah...as Emblem said, it's a DS game so anybody can just buy a US version and play it anyway. It's another shining example of why no region locking saves everybody time and hassle.
I already have it through importing, however I pre-ordered all the same to support Ghostlight since they've done such a great job giving Europe SMT titles like Nocturne, the Digital Devil Sagas, the Persona series and of course Devil Survivor.
@Emblem "but i'll be waiting for 3DS overclocked version."
That's the thing though, I feel it's important to support ghostlight by showing that there is a demand for SMT titles over here after all the games they've brought over for us. Or else we might lose them, and with it the only relatively-stable source for SMT for us Europeans that has backed the series from the very beginning of its US exposure.
Oh, no.
I have the SMT1verlocked and its really good game. But buing a DS game in time of 3DS? If there is a 3DS realese of SMT2 OK, but now...
I will really consider it...
25Ł are really much. If they took the new japanese re-release, it will be a "must buy" for me.
Sorry but I imported this game ages ago when it seemed certain that it wasn't going to be released in EU. Seems very late now and I have no need to buy the game a second time.
If Atlus had a setup where their games could be released without a year or more of waiting then it would be different. They make and publish great games but they are an abysmal publisher for the rest of the world. They seem to make it difficult on purpose.
I may go for the bundle since overclock is €60 here. So paying for the P&P is going to pay for DS2.
"However, should we not meet this quota, then everyone who ordered Devil Survivor 2 will receive a full refund while those who ordered the double pack will have the option to receive Devil Survivor Overclocked with the £10.00 discount"
Nice since I am interested and I don't know those games yet! I am in!
While this game is of no interest to me, I rather like this idea of preordering directly from the publisher and hope more publishers go this route of allowing the fans to vote on releasing a niche game.
I go the double pack. I hope the 1´800 benchmark will be hit.
My original Devil Survivor don't need the meager ugrade Overclocked grants. Give Europe Devil Survivor 2 3DS instead, we already bought the console, now let us use them.
