Back in early May we brought your attention to the fan-developed PC game, Mega Man Unlimited, though it perhaps helps dodge problems by ditching the space as Megaman Unlimited. The work of Philippe "MegaPhilX" Poulin and a small but dedicated team, its terrific art design once confused a Capcom employee who included its screens as part of marketing for Mega Man 10.
Back then the title was in its QA phase, but the exciting news is that it's now finished and has a release date of 14th July. This may be a PC fan project, but as Capcom is yet to revive the series — and Unlimited does look awesome — we may have to settle for it. How will it compare to Street Fighter X Mega Man? We'll soon find out.
Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think.

Looks really good, so much more like classic Megaman than MMxSF.
This looks like it could be just as good, if not better than MM9 & MM10.
I wish capcom would just licence this and make an all new mega man series out of it.
@Wesley8ty6 To bad capcom for some reason seems to hate mega man.
Hope it is really good, for all fans like @Philip_J_Reed.
Thanks @Knuckles ! I'll be giving this a whirl for sure...might do a blind run on youtube but we'll see. Either way, looking forward to it!
@Knuckles I really hate what Capcom has become, i used to get hype just seeing a capcom logo on the start screen, now i never know when its gonna be a good game behind it (except for street fighter and Monster hunter.
Watch Capcom steal ideas from this game for MM11.
What, no mention of Newer Super Mario Bros Wii? That's another awesome fan-hack.
@TobiasAmaranth
This article was about a new fan-made Megaman game, not a hack. So it would make since to not include that in here.
@ChaosAngel Newer is practically a ground-up creation. Calling it a hack hardly does it justice. I'm just surprised that it hasn't even been mentioned here at NintendoLife given that the team as a whole discourages piracy and the only way they support play of it is through owning the original NSMBW disc.
@TobiasAmaranth
It does look cool. Maybe you could talk one of NLife's editors to do an article on it. :/
dat music... so farming phenomenal!
@Yasume they don't need to they can take the whole game and sell it if they want to.
Ironically, even Nintendo is giving Mega Man a better treatment than Capcom, as the latter doesnt even care about including him in his fighting mash ups, at least, in good shape.
I remember back when 16- bit Mega Man sprites were all the rage for sprite comics, but it seems now nobody wants to touch them anymore.
I'm loving that platypus robot.
Would someone just make this guy the head of Capcom or something? He'd be making more Mega Man games than Crapcom has been lately.
Why not put this game on consoles where it belongs?
And this is the point where the C&Ds will probably start. Standard operating procedure for game publishers to wait until the fan game is done or shows promise of being as good/better than what the publisher themselves do with their IP.
@TobiasAmaranth i thought you were anti-hacking? The wii hack is exactly the same thing as the 3ds hack, just alot cheaper.
Wow! Some fans are just too awesome! I'm more of a Mega Man X fan but this game looks great. I will be getting it! Looks really fun!
I'm not an uber fan of Mega Man games but I'll certainly give this a try if I get a chance.
