Ubisoft's Jean-Phillipe Caro has lavished praise on Nintendo's new Wii U console, giving it the lion's share of the credit when it comes to explaining ZombiU's positive pre-release reception.
Speaking to ONM, Caro said:
I think we are making something fresh with the most innovative console. The Wii U is the most innovate system for the moment on Earth. We didn't have to make a big innovation on our side - it was all here on the system so that was easier for us.
It's always nice to hear developers talking in such glowing terms about new hardware. Do these positive comments make you even more excited for the release of Wii U? Let us know in the comments section.

To answer your question, yes indeed. Hopefully ZombiU stands apart from the typical FPS
Hmmm, I wonder if Ubisoft has seen the PS4 and 720? If so this is great news
More like Wii U-bisoft.
@HarmoKnight
They did say "for the moment"... Unless you're saying devs already have dev kits for the PS4 and 720.
Yeah! Ubisoft should just partner and combine forces with Nintendo only. Think of the possiblities. Also Rare should really come back to Nintendo because microsoft hasn't done anything with it and the workers have said they would be better off with Nintendo.
@HawkeyeWii If they did that, Rayman would be an auto-matic entry for Smash Bros.! Completely agree with you there man!
even if next sony or microsoft consle made up Nintendo Wii U always be More innovate console than others. Nintendo always more innovative than others. For example... Wii or DS 3DS are more innovative than oldschool consoles like xBox or PS3 or PSP. Graphics? it is not enough. controlers? Nintendo be the first who had gyroscoping controlers. Now the have multitouch controler with many features. so i think again BigN is more innovative.
Please let this mean they will go back to developing Beyond Good and Evil 2 and that it will be released on the Wii U
Honestly I really don't think getting Rare back would do anything, remember that most of their staff back when Nintendo still had them, left...so, yeah.
Then again I don't know how all that stuff really works, so whatever. We have Retro, lol
So let me get this straight, the guy is hyping a console which has a current installed base of exactly ZERO, and on which he has an exclusive game coming out?
Didn't see that coming. I really thought Ubisoft employees would be bashing the WiiU, what with all the games they have lined up Can't imagine that anybody at Ubisoft would have a vested interest in getting WiiUs sold.
As MrWalkieTalkie said - Wii Ubisoft.
Well it doesn't have much competition in the innovative category...wait till we have new systems to make the final call.
It's like having a black dude in a class full of white kids and the teach goes "grats! You're the blackest person in this class!" (crude example)
But ...Nintendo does win by default for now. I have faith, but I can already smell the copy cats. Oh Sony i'm looking at you....
I hope Nintendo continues to innovate and go their own path, it's truly the best thing they do.
I like how every random quote is a news story these days.
Ubisoft do always seem to have a love of supporting anything new, I remember them bringing 5 games (I think? Pretty sure that's right) out on the Vita when it first came out.
@HarmoKnight
Well, slightly better graphics do not mean innovative.
@Skotski Why is the PS4 and 720 (if those are the names) held in such god like terms? According to who ever you talk to, some people think they will be akin to Skynet from the Terminator franchise. I expect they will just be more of the same with a little more junk in the trunk. It's what happened with the PS3 and 360. If I'm wrong, I'll admit it.
I loled at this. I mean on a technical level it's probably true, but it almost seems overenthusiastic.
@Skotski That's what I'm wondering
Ubisoft is sooo excited about Wii u! Now put your money where your mouth is! Rayman legends as a exclusive is a great sign! But now bring Beyond good and evil 2 as a exclusive! That would hit home hard!!
Well, he's obviously got an interest in pumping up the Wii U's tyers considering Ubi have made a pretty heavy software investment in the machine. Still, I think it's kinda cool. I prefer what they're trying to do with this over the Wii.
Not to be negative but anyone else take the second part as meaning they didn't have to think as hard to come up with an innovative idea? I'm hoping it was just poor wording and he means it was easier to work with and be creative than current consoles, don't want to see devs tack on screen aiming and touch controls and call it innovating.
More powerful graphics, faster processors = better consoles? Yeah, I remember the days when the PS3 launched with people waiting in line for 48 plus hours to get one with only one mediocre game worth playing on it (Resistance Fall of Man) and I remember the super long wait to when games that people really wanted finaly came out and then the test officialy began with the results being PS3's and xbox 360's overheating in mass numbers, Blu Ray diodes going out almost every year on PS3 refusing to read any of your games and SONY gladly chaging you 150.00 to fix it every time it happened. It almost seemed to be a money sink for them that was carefully planned out. Every single Nintendo system I have owned since the original NES still works. I own a brand new Alienware M17x laptop that when it comes to power and speed, is unmatched... Its very nice looking sitting in the corner unnoticed while I dump hours into Nintendos products. More power, better graphics and higher speed = one thing and its definately not a better console but rather HEAT. Something that both microsoft and SONY have already shown the world that they dont have a clue on how to handle other than making their customers pay for it. You can argue and say "All thats needed is good fans" but thats rubbish... The Alienware has top of the line fans in it but when you run the thing wide open you could still set it in the freezer and it would transform it into a microwave oven. Consoles are a constant investment because they're all about GAMES not power and speed. Look at cars... They are made to get you from point A. to point B. and normal cars is what Nintendo would represent but there are sports cars available too that have more power, speed and heat issues not to mention are massivly undersold to the market as compared to normal cars because of price and other things. These types of cars are what SONY and Microsoft represent. Can you not see already that Nintendo has already won this before it even started? BTW I'm on my FIFTH playstation 3 that Battlefield 3 has already wore this blu ray diode out so it may last another 2 months at best... Thank GOD the Wii U will be out then..
@Koto Especially if you've been able to get much more power, and better graphics, for 5 years on PC.
The Wii U looks nice, but I think 'M02t inn0v@tive ©0n201e 0n earthz!' is slightly pushing it.
Somewhere in a galaxy far far away there is a really pissed droid reading this comment and saying:
"What?! That bulls****!"
I wanna try ZombieU...
You don't say, Ubisoft.
I hear that the Planet Mars has a brilliant console,with graphics so life-like it's unreal.
The only problem with that console is,that there's only one game you cane play.
It's called"How to lure the Humans to Mars"
I'm getting seriously bored of the specs debate. I can't wait til the benchmark scores come out and put the whole thing to bed. I'm confident there will be a lot more power in the U than in the current consoles and when someone utilises it like capcom did with RE4 for GC then we will all know.
I think, in terms of winning the generation, nintendo have as good a shot as they did with the wii. PS4 and XB3 will be more powerful and possibly even as powerful as a mid range gaming pc is now but I don't see how that will make them outshine current gen by much. If they try to up the resolution to beyond current TV standards then they will fail to get the mass market unless they sell it for a loss. All the anti aliasing, anisotropic filtering, bump mapping and shaders in the world will not outclass something that is drawn well from the start.
It doesn't seem as innovative as the DS and Wii to me.
Of course it is. You've dumped a boatload of money into its launch, so it has to be.
"Or any other planet, for that matter"
OH YOU.
Innovative? Maybe, maybe not. Comfortable and ergonomic? Let's hope so.
Ubisoft is awesome, and I'll be showing my support for them on launch day when I pick up both Assassins Creed 3 and Zombi U.
I suppose in terms of innovation, it could well be.
