European publisher Rising Star Games is responsible for bringing across some of the more original critically-acclaimed titles, localising feudal side-scrolling slasher Muramasa: The Demon Blade, monarchic masterpiece Little King's Story and most of the Harvest Moon series in recent years. Just before E3 the company has put out a short press release letting gamers know some of the titles coming to European shores later this year.
Principal titles include DS farm-and-dungeon-'em-up Rune Factory 2 for DS and cutesy but bonkers RPG My World, My Way, both of which have been available in North America for some time but whose European debuts are still highly anticipated.
There's also strategy RPG Eldar Saga for Wii, presumably a shorter name for US release Valhalla Knights: Eldar Saga, and the DS finally receives its very own version of legendary arcade title Pang in the form of Pang: Magical Michael.
That's not all: the publisher also promises further titles to be announced before E3 kicks off in just under ten days, so stay tuned to find out what other Japanese treats are heading to European consoles.
Rising Star Games makes first announcement of its 2010 Autumn line-up
2010 continues to be a huge year for Rising Star Games with Pang: Magical Michael, Rune Factory 2, My World My Way and Eldar Saga coming to Europe.Friday 3rd June 2010: Rising Star Games continues the momentum of a year jam-packed with great releases by adding four titles to its 2010 release schedule. With Pang: Magical Michael, Rune Factory 2, My World My Way and Eldar Saga due for European release this Autumn, Rising Star Games continues to serve up the best in Japanese games.
The release of Pang: Magical Michael on the Nintendo DS, from the legendary studio Mitchell Corp., will mark 21 years since the original game blasted onto the arcade scene. Pang returns with all the addictive gameplay that made it so popular - now on the best selling handheld of all time.
Rune Factory 2: A Fantasy Harvest Moon is an epic and engrossing game that perfectly encapsulates the best of the life simulation and RPG genres - considered by fans to be the perfect evolution of the beloved Harvest Moon series.
My World My Way is a humorous take on traditional RPG gameplay, allowing players to change the landscape of play or choose to skip quests that are too troublesome - there's no need to follow the established rules!
Developed exclusively for the Nintendo Wii, Eldar Saga caters for RPG-hungry fans - with an immersive story, great developer heritage, and online cooperative play via the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Service.
We've had a great start to 2010, says Martin Defries, managing director, Rising Star Games. We are looking to build on the momentum we've picked up so far and really make 2010 a landmark year. We've got some great titles coming out on the Nintendo DS and Wii formats, including Rune Factory 2 and Eldar Saga, and I'm particularly excited about introducing a whole new audience to the arcade classic Pang. We also have My World My Way coming out in Autumn, a brilliant twist on the RPG genre, and one which should appeal particularly to girls.
Rising Star Games Autumn 2010 release schedule so far:
- Pang: Magical Michael (NDS)
- Rune Factory 2: A Fantasy Harvest Moon (NDS)
- My World My Way (NDS)
- Eldar Saga (Nintendo Wii)
There will be a further announcement of additional titles ahead of E3!

Eldar Saga? Wii? RPG? YESSSSS!
...wait... these are EU releases... Eldar Saga... ohhh. I'm a sad panda. I should start reading news articles instead of skimming them.
Pang is awesome, I'm totally into that, though I'd be happier if it was a full-blown collection on Wii - maybe we can look forward to the arcade games on the VCA?
I don't know anything about Eldar Saga - someone clue me in? And what about Arc Rise?
Eldar Saga is an action RPG that was critically panned for its washed out color and loud footsteps.
Some of these sound good but I was hoping for G.G. series collection+.
Yeah, that would be ace. Well, they do say there's more to reveal about their line-up so there could be some surprises!
Oh neat, Eldar Saga! I will be all over it. =)
What's with the enthousiasm about Eldar Saga? It's a terrible game according to almost all reviews.
great news for eu players
In other news, Rising Star will publish games fashionably late.
@uel - Considering it has to localise each title into a number of languages and submit to multiple ratings boards it's understandable why they take some time.
Yay! You're getting Rune Factory 2. I loved that game.
ugh...Valhalla Knights was SUPPOSED to be awful. I never played it personally, but it got horrendous reviews when it came out - to no aplomb and no advertising - here in the 'states last year. Like a poor, poor, POOR man's version of Monster Hunter. I can't believe its coming to Europe like a year later...and after Monster Hunter Tri, no less. ewwwwww.
I'm going to give Elder Saga a shot.
The reaction from the community is about the same that King's Field IV was hit with, and when I gave that a shot, I loved it. One of my favourite games of the PS2 era, actually.
Visually Elder Saga looks similar - it's an aesthetic that I personally appreciate. Misunderstood niche game? Possibly!
