Those Space Invaders have been around for 30 years now and are still going strong. New adaptions are keeping the series fresh yet recognisable, and it seems the latest instalment could be making an appearance on home consoles and/or handheld systems.
A recent OFLC classification of a "multi-format" game called Space Invaders: Infinity Gene has been submitted by Square-Enix, and it's a game that iPhone owners may very well be familiar with as it's been available on the Apple App Store for some time now.
Ubisoft is down as the publisher, and with its experience of publishing Space Invaders games on Xbox Live Arcade and DS it's tough to say where exactly it'll land; it's possible that Infinity Gene could be coming to any combination of the PlayStation Network, XBLA, WiiWare, and DSiWare; or all of them. There's even the possibility that it won't see the light of day on any of the Nintendo services, but until the formats are confirmed we can cross our fingers.

Ooo I hope this comes to WiiWare!
Predicting DSiWare.
Already have it on ipod touch, love it and still play it to this day. Since both systems do have music playing capabilities, I can see it working for either system.
One of the best vertical shmups made in recent memory.
