If you live in North America and chose Doc Louis's Punch-Out!! as your platinum Club Nintendo reward, then you'll be happy to know that Nintendo of America sent out your download code yesterday.
After getting the e-mail, simply go to the Wii Shop and enter the code in the correct section (under "Options") to unlock the game and start your download. From then on, it'll function just like a WiiWare game, appearing under your downloaded games and whatnot.
As expected, the game is pretty much an extension to the retail game - you can fight Doc Louis in three different modes (Warm-up, Training and Sparring), each making him a little bit harder. This means that both newcomers and veterans alike should be able to beat Doc, which is something most of us have been waiting for for over 20 years!
Let's have a show of hands - who can beat him on the highest difficulty?

Raises hand. I already did, like...ten hours ago. It was fun, though.
Was it worth it? How difficult is Doc to beat? He have any funny lines?
I haven't gotten my email! . Funny how i never miss an advertisement email from them...
Booooo Boooooo >: (
I really wanted this, do you find it funny Nintendo? Not letting some groups of consumers recive this!
You're just promoting piracy to me, thats what happen when you don't provide your products to your consumers >: (
I haven't got the Email either, Token Girl. However, the product order on Club Nintendo says that "the product will be fulfilled on November 1st", so I don't feel worried so far. But I do feel envious...
I hope they bring this out to the rest of us sometime next year. I really wanna play this game and I have no way of doing so
"Apollo, you want to ring the bell?"
"Alright, ding... ding"
Thanks V8 Ninja, that makes me feel better. I did sort of dilly dally on making my choice (i don't know why...i knew i didn't want the hat), but you wouldn't think that would matter to much for something they just need to send out an email for, as oppose to actually manufacture and ship.
Hey! I never got that e-mail either! Well, I guess Nintendo doesn't care because I live in the "Canada" part of North America.
Knocking the chocolate bar out of his hand leads to the funniest moment in all of Punch-Out history.
Aaaaaargh, I so wanna beat his chocolate bar!!!
P.S. No pun intended
damn nintendo still haven't sent me a code but no big deal its a cheap demo anyways
If it's just a code, anyone know if you can resell it?
Edit: Based on what I see on eBay, it seems the answer is "yes". Anyone want to buy a code? $100 to a good home.
@Terranigma:
There will indeed be a review posted within the next day or so.
@thewiirocks:
No reason you can't resell/trade the code. Each code can only be redeemed once.
Nice! I'm downloading right now.
I didn't get Platinum. I'm still waiting for my calendar, which is strange because my brother (who lives with me) already got his calendar.
Platinum members only? Pah!
@8 I haven't received the email yet either, Token Girl. And I, too, ordered Doc Louis some time after the Platinum prizes were presented (A. because I didn't have access to the Internet when the prizes were announced, and B. I was kind of torn between the game and hat for a while). Like you said, it doesn't really make much sense for Ninty to be late with an email... Oh well, I suppose you, V8 Ninja, and I can't contact Nintendo about it unless it isn't delivered by the 1st. I guess we'll all suffer together.
@odnetnin
Maybe it runs on a first come first serve basis. Seeing how tou took some time to choose your reward(like myself), maybe your just not on top of the list.
@Shmavey For all of our sakes, I hope so.
I am a green eyed monster.
I got my code, too bad I can't connect my Wii to the servers at college looks like I have to wait til I go home, which looks like Thanksgiving
Hah, it was a blast to spar with Doc Louis. He's my favorite Punch-Out!! character, so to see him in the ring was a lot of fun. In the Doc's own words, "Choctastic, hahahaha!"
Oh, and... raises hand.
I took him to round 3 on sparring but he keeps eating that chocolate bar. I got close but I did not beat him.
And I want to fight Doc Louis! so...darn...bad...
@Tony:
"I took him to round 3 on sparring but he keeps eating that chocolate bar."
Put a stop to his snacking. It's helpful, and oh so worth it.
Didn't get the email/code yet either, but i too waited a bit before selecting the reward. Hoepfully should be along soon!
@ Chicken Brutus
Thank you kind Sir for the advice I think I catch what you are saying and I will try that.
I just got my code 5 minutes ago. So hang in there everyone! It's coming!
Looks like it's a time for Ebay! I guess I should buy the actual game first though.
got my code 2:41pm est
@pinguy - nope. You're justifying piracy cause you're frustrated. Totally not the same thing.
You people should be happy even having a Club Nintendo... All of Scandinavia is weeping because of what they miss!
@thewiirocks I did, and it just paid off.
I got my download yesterday, it is a good free game!
It's already dumped for those who dabble in homebrew...
$100 for this on eBay? WTF? I paid $25 for Tingle's Balloon Fight DS on eBay, which was Japan's Platinum reward of 2006. Some people are too damn greedy.
I found the chocolate secret all on my own, by complete accident (swinging in frustration). Boy, was I surprised!
I beat it, buts its fun, I spent 3 hours staright trying to beat him on the last one, where I'm a Punch-Out!! veteran (or at least I know to look for things odd about characters) so the chocolate secret was naturally the first thing I tried! Anybody know how to get any stars?
I got my confirmation today instead of yesterday. I'll be trying it later on for sure.
@Stuffy I was told to try punching the chocolate bar beforehand, but I would've done it anyway from my experiences with Soda Popinski.
@irken004 Are you considering purchasing the retail Punch-Out!! now?
@Supermarioman It took me a while to beat him in Sparring mode, too. I have no idea how to get any stars.
Brilliant game, btw.
@Odnetnin it is a possibility... It'd go nicely with NSMBW
Selling for about $30.00 on eBay. Hmm... Might wait a little while before redeeming my code.
Ebay is such a relief for us, Nintendo collectors and gamers!
You are probably talking with the first latin DLPO owner!
I was afraid that I couldnt redeem the number here but it was posible!
@7.Alejandro_Talavera: Well, you have an NTSC Wii, right? That's the only requirement to download this game, as far as I know; exact physical location shouldn't matter. I would assume that our European friends couldn't use any codes, though, because the game isn't programmed for their Wii's.
personally, i don't see much point in this. i'd go with a different bonus if i even had a club nintendo account. if i'm not mistaken, this is exactly the same as Punch-Out!! Wii, but with only one character to play against? would have made more sense to me were this downloadable content for Punch-Out!! instead of a separate game. oh well. perhaps i'm misinformed, or my opinions are just strange.
@Swerd_Murd
nope. I'm frustrated because i can't play the damn game, that i really want to play it as a Punch-out! fan, the only way i could play the game is by "piracy" that i can't even do it because i'm not even touching the official firmware. That's what's happen when the company don't EVEN provide the product to sell.
(PS. Don't talk about things you don't, know acusing me of piracy >: ( what an insult)
@bro2dragons: In a way, this WOULD have made more sense as DLC. On any other console, it might have been. But Nintendo's DLC system isn't very good, and they probably wanted to make sure you didn't HAVE to own the retail game to play this (of course, only people who HAVE it would want this, but that's logic, which is a Nintendo no-no).
@MrPinguy: I understand what you're talking about. There's nothing wrong with "stealing" something that has not been made available for you to legally obtain, even though you would have gladly paid for it.
I probably shouldn't even be telling you guys this... since I'm a rich exclusive platinum Club Nintendo member that wants to hog all the fun to myself! LOL!!!! But you can download the Doc Louis game RIGHT NOW. I never received an email from Nintendo, but since I'm a genius (check my user name) I know a way of getting the download code!
1) Log into your Club Nintendo account
2) Look for the link labeled "Reward Order Inquiry" and click "See All" (its on the left side once you sign in... right below "My Newsletter")
3) Click the link that says "View Game Code"
There you have it, you can be as cool as me, but not as smart nor rich.
This game is awesssssome!!! It would totally suck if I wasn't a platinum Club Nintendo member, I don't know how I could cope with life. All you platinum members know what I'm talking about, we are the TRUE Nintendo fan boys. Woot Woot.
