Mastiff Unleashes Kodiak Bear on Unsuspecting U.S. Wii Population
Major League Eating: The Game Features Famous Ursine Opponent from Kobayashi vs. Kodiak Bear Match of 2003
SAN FRANCISCO, CALIF. - Aug. 1, 2008 - In Mastiff’s Major League Eating: The Game, now available via WiiWare(tm), players who battle their way to victory, unlocking each of the game’s hidden characters along the way, will be rewarded with the ultimate unlockable character: The Alaskan Crusher.
Hailing from Alaska’s Kodiak Archipelago, The Alaskan Crusher is considered one of the world’s largest terrestrial omnivores. He prefers the brain, flesh and eggs of the salmon, and the internal organs of deer, elk and cattle. He is also extremely fond of berries, grass and other plants.
In order to face The Alaskan Crusher, players must unlock each of the hidden characters in Major League Eating: The Game. Once each hidden character is available, The Alaskan Crusher will be unlocked. Hidden characters are unlocked by winning a match with a specific character as follows:
- Win a game with “Crazy Legs” Conti to unlock Tim “Eater X” Janus
- Win a game with Erik “the Red” Denmark to unlock Sonya “The Black Widow” Thomas
- Win a game with “El Toro” Jimenez to unlock Richard “The Locust” LeFevre
- Win a game with Juliet “The Lovely” Lee to unlock Patrick “Deep Dish” Bertoletti
- Win a game with Patrick “Deep Dish” Bertoletti to unlock Joey “Jaws” Chestnut
Only one eater, competitive eating legend Takeru Kobayashi, has ever dared face a Kodiak bear in head-to-head gurgitory competition, and Kobayashi suffered a crushing defeat on that day five years ago. Will Kobayashi find his revenge? Only time will tell.
Witness this historical moment for yourselves:
first! Cool. Thats how I eat in real life.
I like the video. The bear was obviously going to win.
A press release for an easter egg in their game... sales must really be bad.. but... they're not..? It's high up on the top WiiWare list, so it can't be low sales... Why are they... Hmm... Very strange development, this.
Bears: Godless killing machines.
what was the name of the show on the vid? It looked awsome!
LOL sumo VS ape!
Alaskan crusher! Raaaaaar!
I'll never eat hot dogs again.
Damn that bear didn't give that guy a chance to breath i feel sorry for him for losing to a animal it was so funny though i wounder if the guy even got his revenge LOL!
Thats hilarious. I am considering getting this sometime.
Hahaha, oh wow. They certainly have their sense of humor, don't they? I hope the bear got to eat his fill of delicious salmon brains afterwards, looks like he was still hungry.
Peznaze: Does seem a bit strange, I guess, but whatever boost sales is good. Of course, this might have originally been written for something else (the Major League Eating Fan Club Monthly Mailing...or whatever ), and simply forwarded to WWW.
@theludicrous-The show was called Man Vs. Beast, it aired on the Fox network, but it never realy cuaght on so it was cancelled (most likely PETA had it pulled for some unethical treatment of Animals).
how we can unlock kobayashi?
he is cool
hehehe that is so funny
thanks Kidpit! too bad It got pulled off
That show does look hilarious, and the simple fact that they put the bear in the game truly is awesomely ridiculous. XD
Right now, I'm thinking about buying the game JUST because they got a bear in it.
I had never even thought of buying this game before, but now that I know that you can play as a friggin bear...it's really quite tempting.
Dude, Kobayashi couldn't even beat a frat boy from San Jose, whats he doing messing with a Kodiak Bear?
This seems like a desperate attempt to boost sales. Not working for me
That's what they wanted to happen.
