For North America this week you are treated to Dynamite Headdy which is a cool platform game on the Genesis. We highly recommend this one if you haven't played it yet. Headdy can give Sonic a run for his money on a good day.
If you've been enjoying all the excellent vertical scrolling shoot-em-ups on the TurboGrafx-16 such as Soldier Blade and Super Star Soldier you might get a kick out of out of checking out the series roots. Star Soldier on the NES is very dated now however so for everyone except hardcore fans this is to be avoided.
Last this week there is Drop Off on the TurboGrafx-16. The game plays sort of like Arkanoid / Breakout i.e. a bat and ball game. The gameplay is very limited and this game will get old very quickly. We recommend giving this one a miss.

Dynamite Headdy is okay... but where's Super Mario Bros. 3?!??!
Anyone who calls this a bad week despite the inclusion of Dynamite Headdy gets smacked!
This is an awful week! Oh how you disappoint me sometimes Nintendo...
Bad for us Europeans Now a 13 games gap between Europe and USA

Cool Star Soldier!
Man....Let's see some games care about. How many side-scrolling shooters do we need on the VC? Good RPGs please! I hope with the release of Brawl on the Wii, we'll see the original Smash Brothers on the VC. Here's hoping.
Good RPGs, Branden? It's not like Square Enix is surporting the Virtual Console (or PSN or Xbox Live Arcade either). Without Square Enix, all we are going to have is Phantasy Star 2, 3, and 4 (Which of course appeared, like many of the Sega Genesis games, on Sega Genesis Collection... We don't get Phantasy Star 1 because it was for the Sega Master System, despite a Japanese port for the Mega Drive), Shining in the Darkness, Shining Force II, Super Mario RPG, and Earthbound. At least, if Nintendo doesn't spend a ton of money to translate the Fire Emblem games. RPGs are the hardest to bring over from Japan because unlike Battle Lode Runner (which has the distinction of being the first game on the Virtual Console that was never before released in the West), RPGs require a FULL translation.
Hey guys, guess what? We got Mario Strikers Charged and Picross DS today. That's why we didn't get an "awesome" week.
It doesn't cost that much money to translate an old RPG. They also are making money again by putting it on the VC so I'm not sure why you think they wouldn't want to do it.
samaine, you made one mistake. Super Mario RPG won't be coming out either since it was a joint effort between Squaresoft and Nintendo. I am truly sad about this because I never got to play it and was hoping to on VC. But I agree that we need more RPGs (and platformers) for VC.
So you all want smacks, eh? =P
Those that are disappointed, how many of you have played Headdy? I know I'm coming across as an obsessed loon now, but if you haven't I urge you to give it a go. Go on, it's a classic!
Yes where is Earthbound?
Square Enix IS supporting the VC, people. They've already released Actraiser, and will no doubt release more games in the future.
What they WON'T do, however, is release games like Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest and Chrono Trigger - games they know they can earn more on by remaking them for handhelds.
But stuff like EVO, Secret of Evermore and Robotrek won't be surprising to see on the VC.
And for the record, there were a lot of good RPGs not named Final Fantasy on the SNES. Even in the US.
And.... why not just do both; eh Adamant? Square Enix will make even MORE money that way! wink-wink
Bah, Chrono Trigger was released 12 years ago, and it still has never come to the Europe! So instead of remaking it for handheld, they should just give it to us (euro) blindly! Its the only fair thing to do!
But more to the point, good week US....... NOOOOOT! LOOOOL
XD
wasn't the best week was it?
Much better week than Europe's last Friday. That's a given
I beg to differ. 1 star, 2 stars and 4 stars < 3 stars and 5 stars.
GumbyX, MarioRPG has already been confirmed for VC, scheduled for sometime this year. Either ESRB has false information, or we can expect the RPG really soon...
