Useless Uwe Boll today sat down and talked to EuroGamer, he had quite a lot to say about the press, his movies and everything in-between. Apparently our fault, the gaming press, as to why his movies get such a bad reputation. Lets remember that his recent movies, such as BloodRayne, got totally slammed by the media before it even made its release date.

Uwe defended his movies, telling the interviewer exactly what he thought.

"Let's be realistic, what is House of the Dead? House of the Dead is a brainless shooter, where you shoot zombies into pieces. So what are you expecting from the movie, Schindler's List? I think I made a perfect House of the Dead movie, because it really shows how the game is. It's a lot of fun, it's over-the-top action - it's not 28 Days Later, because the reality is that House of the Dead is about how it's a lot of fun to shoot zombies... It's cheesy entertainment with a lot of gore and a lot of violence, and it's super-fast."

Uwe seems to have hit the nail on the head with this quote. Its my belief that the single most factor that p*sses gamers off is when film makers are totally ignorant to the narrative and concept of the game.

Sure House of the Dead was a brainless shooter in terms of game-play, but it does have a story which was built upon throughout the three titles. It had a whole set of characters and back-story. It had locations and bad guys. The only similarities between House of the Dead the movie and House of the Dead the game were guns and zombies. It could of been called "Night Of The Living Dead 7" and no-one would of said "OMG, its a HotD rip-off!".

Resident Evil wasn't a bad movie, but it wasn't Resident Evil. Doom wasn't a bad movie, but it wasn't Doom. Why do film makers get the license to a popular game with a fan-base and totally rip it to shreds?

I predict game movies will become popular and well received when they stay true their adapted content. It was exactly the same with the reverse, the film franchise games.

"Before they judge, they should see the film, that's the first thing. Second, they should really try to compare it fairly, and not based on my name. If people really think I'm completely talentless, and this is to journalists, they should at least rent one of my earlier movies, like Heart of America, which is a really, really good movie."

I totally agree with this statement, you should watch something before you slate it. When I watched House of the Dead I'd never heard of Uwe Boll. It sucked.
