About The Game
You are left alone in the jungle without any food or equipment, trying to survive and find your way out. Clinging to life, the player is set on a journey of durability as the effects of solitude wear heavy not only on the body but also the mind. How long can you survive against the dangers of the unknown?
On this journey, you won’t get any help from the outside world. Equipped only with your bare hands you’ll have to learn actual survival techniques to build shelters, make tools, and craft weapons in order to hunt and defend yourself. Constantly threatened by the jungle you’ll fight with both wild animals and tropical sicknesses. Players will also have to face the traps set by your own mind and fears that crawl in the darkness of the endless jungle.
STORY
You are thrown deep into the emerald and impenetrable Amazonian rain forest. The green hell. Your goal is to survive in the depths of a nightmarish environment using truly intuitive means to escape. Having only a radio at your disposal you will follow the familiar voice of a loved one through this endless and inhospitable jungle, unveiling bit by bit how you got there in the first place. What you discover will be worse than what you fought so hard against to survive.
THE QUESTION
Where can the human mind wander?

I've been waiting for a survival game of this nature to come to the Switch since March 2017. This game is a great survival crafting simulator in the vein of The Forest, but arguably more oriented towards hardcore players. The game can be extremely visceral on higher difficulty levels, which it offers a wide variety of for those looking for a less unforgiving playthrough (a custom rules mode is also available, allowing players to customize the difficulty to their liking). Separate Story and Survival modes are offered as well, allowing players to skip straight to the game if they choose.
The visuals are beautiful, and there is deep survival gameplay to be found here. You can start with nothing but sticks and leaves and end up building a jungle mansion if you have the time and materials. Weather is unpredictable, requiring you to prepare for overly dry or wet spells that can last weeks at a time. Sanity must be maintained along with the genre standard hydration and nutrition meters, all of which are monitorable intuitively from the player's smart watch. Natives function in a similar way to The Forest, timidly observing you from afar as if you are an unpredictable predator, and will attack if provoked. Wild animals range from passive game to dangerous predators and can be lethal if you are unprepared.
Crafting is deep and varied, the presentation is stunning, and the story is strong. The relationship between the well voice-acted lead characters in story mode is comparable to Firewatch, in that the characters' relationship is explored via a walkie-talkie. The voice actors do a wonderful job depicting the relationship between the two characters, making it easy for the player to grow attached. Story cues are there to be found or passed by in true open-world fashion, and multiple endings exist for those who are able to piece it all together. This is an essential, under-priced survival crafting game and one the Switch has desperately needed. Definitely pick this one up.
