News OFLC Ratings Promise Street Fighting Action
Two of Capcom's vintage brawlers get the classifications board treatment
Australia's OFLC ratings board has just confirmed that two instalments in Capcom's classics Street Fighter series have been awarded official ratings, which means they're probably coming to the Virtual Console very soon. Fighting Street is the PC Engine/TG16 version of the very...

Do we really need yet another SF II version?
Need, no. Expect, yes. We'll most likely eventually get all the versions on all consoles.
If only we could get SSFIIT on the 3DO...
Another street fighter game? Give me a break. Move on to another series will ya Capcom? Or at least announce Little Nemo: The Dream Master. Now THAT will get me excited.
arcade perfect goodness
Not looking forward to this, considering Capcom released a FREEWARE version that you can play in your internet browser!
lol. the poster says it all, "You Asked For It!" XD
I am still willing to bet that it is the PC Engine version of this game that is coming out, not the arcade.
@brooks83
Can't be, the TG16 version was called Street Fighter 2: "Special" Champion Edition
Adritone
That's the Genesis version. If I recall, the PC Engine version "Wasn't released outside Japan" was just called Champion Edition.
Even thought I have Super Street Fighter II: The New Challenger, I'm considering buying it. After all, it's from 1992 and that means more modern arcade games can come to the Virtual Console. It's potential has not been reached yet, but it's great to hear that this game is coming to the Virtual Console.
I love fighting.....in the street.
If I want to play this, I go for the Saturn Capcom Gen 5 Collection version... I'm also guessing this will be the PC Engine version, seems pretty random Capcom would go for Champion Edition as a first arcade. Is my favourite though, used to save my school dinner money to play this one, classic game!
I've always maintained that the Street Fighter II series would have had a better overall reputation if they had skipped Champion Edition and The New Challengers. Of course it could be said that if it weren't for Champion Edition and The New Challengers they couldn't have produced their upgrades (Hyper Fighting and Super Turbo). Either way, history can't be changed...
YES! The arcade version! Must buy!
Yawn, more Street Fighter. The series never appealed to me anyways.
According to Hudson's VC website this will be the Turbo port and is scheduled for 11/2009
Interesting. The TG16 version of SF2 was never released outside of Japan originally so it should be 700 points and for the first time, American gamers will be subject to the Japanese names for the bosses. But still a kind of pointless release; I suppose if someone had 700 points left and didn't know what to do with them and didn't want to get more points, they could download the TG16 version if they haven't already downloaded a version SF2. But I'm going to pass of course.
