Topic: Kyotokei - new shmup coming August 11. "Inspired" by Ikaruga.

It looks like a complete ripoff of Ikaruga, to be honest. But I suppose if you're going to copy a game, might as well pick one of the best! It's developed by Microforum (3D Pixel Racing) and costs 500 points.

I dunno about this one. Microforum games have been getting pretty bad scores on this site so far. It might actually turn out pretty good but for now I'm remaining cautious.

The only real problem with 3D Pixel Racing was the poorly-implemented tilt controls, though. Assuming that they're not idiotic enough to try forcing tilt controls into a 2d shooter, that should bode pretty well for this game.

I was watching the trailer earlier. Looks like it could be fun, provided the gameplay is properly balanced. I've had 1600 pts burning a hole in my Wii for months now, so I think at 500 it's a gamble I can take.

@accc Have you seen anything about "Grotesque Tatics: Evil Heroes" lately? I was really hoping I'd see an article on nintendolife, but it looks like that's not happening. Did this title get cancelled? )<:

According to SKTTR they ran into the usual size issues and it's PC only now.

Really that sucks, why is there a size limit on Wiiware titles anyways? Is Nintendo worried that their retail titles will be belittled?

@WiiAboutU: It has to do with the fact that the Wii's internal memory is pretty bad.

Oh so it an issue of RAM and not the harddrive, I can see why now. I forgot we only have 500 MB of RAM.

Looks alright, and it seems cheap enough. Although the music in that trailer is AWFUL.
Still, the only way this could be a bigger ripoff of Ikaruga is if the game was called "Aguraki."

And yeah wow...that music is gut-wrenching. Like what someone makes the first time they use a sequencer...no dynamics at all.

The gameplay itself looks decent though

It's not so good imo
First off the gameplay starts off entertaining however the game never really picks up after the first two levels and becomes somewhat monotonous,though the boss fights are pretty good
the music is meh but the graphics are good in a cartoony sort of way,one thing I should point out is the controls are extremely temperamental so it takes some getting used to overall here's how I rate this game

Controls 4/10
Music 5/10
Graphics 7/10
Overall 6/10 a fairly decent game with its ups and downs unfortunately its downs greatly diminish its fun factor D:
