Now, all the currently available eShop games with a Metacritic score have been added.

Adjusted Scram Kitty and Stick it to the Man!, based on the additional reviews. I also marked all games in the range of 75-79 with italics.

75-79 seems to be an awfully small, arbitrary range....

Why not use metacritic's own scale and put scores in the 75-89 range in italics, and everything from 90-100 in bold?

Edit: Nevermind the above - I just realized there aren't any eshop games above 89 anyways, so it wouldn't be worth the effort. Maybe extend the italic range to 70-79?

Maybe we could add nl's review score for each title too?
I think that'd be interesting.

I selected the 75 level because that's the threshold for "Generally Favorable Reviews". With very few exceptions (such as the NES Remixes, where many of the favorable reviews aren't that favorable), this is where you would find the first games with more favorable reviews than meh/negative reviews.

I selected the 80 level to single out approximately the top 10% and because 80 seems like a round nice value.

As a comparison, Mario Kart 8 is at 89 with 55-0-0, and I don't think we'll find many indies above 90 in the future.

The NL reviews for eShop Wii U games are found here.

One of the reasons why I created this list was to have an alternative to NL's reviews, since I think the NL review scores are broken and doesn't help me as a customer (personally, I think the scores by ONM are much more consistent and fair). However, one thing I was thinking of perhaps adding was the Metacritic user scores (which sometimes differ quite much from the metascore).

ADDED:
F1 Race Stars: Powered Up Edition
TNT Racers: Nitro Machines Edition

Add the Famitsu scores those are the best for me anyway. Just very hard to find.

OMN last time I checked just gives anything first party 98% or something like that last time I checked. Sucks they kept that and got rid of NGamer.

Now I've also created an eShop / GameRankings thread, for comparison purposes. Some games are affected getting a quite different total when the average is used instead of the weighted number.

Never knew metacritic worked like that. But it explains how EA can come out as the best publisher just by affecting the ones with the highest weighting.

(Or affecting metacritic itself by paying them to weight the ones that they have paid off highest).

This is something that "screws" the Wii U/Nintendo platforms all the time.
Games sometimes never appear because of a (false) lack of reviews (a multiplatform review for example that doesn't count for the Nintendo version for no reason). A game could get 36 reviews on another platform but 3 reviews on the Nintendo platform.

that only happened once.

For me personally, I would often not consider a Wii U game to be as good if it worked identical to other platforms in terms of game control. The exception would be a game where the Pro Controller would be the only controller that made perfect sense for the game.

A related question is why some recent eShop games get lots of reviews (such as Scram Kitty) while others (such as Squids Odyssey) get few, when none of them are reviewed as shovelware.

I would completely disagree with the reviews that gave Trine 2 anywhere near an 8.

Added "Abyss" and "Squids Odyssey". Modified the numbers for "Scram Kitty" once again.

I've updated the list with a large addition of new releases and tried to update changed scores for existing ones.

Metacritic, for everyone who wants an uninformative, incomplete, thrown together collection of opinions in form of numbers.
Must be great for clueless people who want to stay clueless.

I normally just trust NL reviews when it comes to getting Eshop titles.
