For the Wii, it's No More Heroes so far, but I haven't played Super Paper Mario yet, though I intend to get it soon. I bought Opoona not-too-long ago, and it is slowly working its way up my favorite games of all time.
It's very similar to pikmin. You command your villagers to do tasks such as break logs, fight enemies, and dig for treasure. There are also jobs. These jobs let your citizens do certain things or improve a skill such as soldiers fight well, farmers dig holes faster, and carpenters build bridges and stairs. Your villagers can die. If they die, they'll either wash up on the beach the next day, or the church will hold a funeral. It has a nice art style that fits the game (look for some screen shots) and most of the music is classical tunes. The world map is HUGE. There's a bunch of stuff to do and the game is very open. It's a very fun game!

They should use the IR pointer if they make a second one. The line of sight thing gets annoying sometimes.
