For real, theres so many great games that could be made if there was no size limit, i think they need to find a solution to enable these games to be made for wiiware. I say nintendo sends a complimentary SD card to all wii owners like they did with Wiimote jackets so then wii owners who dont already have SD can have a lot more space and this will enable companies the right to make bigger games.
There's still a space/size issue -- the SD card "solution" does NOT run games from the SD card, just allows for a rapid transfer to the Wii system memory. So while there may be a solution to upping the size limit, the current SD card set up isn't it.
The SD card is a great solution, even the largest games (300+) blocks will copy over and start in about 10 seconds. How many disc based games are ready to play in 10 seconds?
I think it's time for them to at least increase the limited size by 50%
Hopefully they allow for an update to SDHC cards soon. You can get a 16GB SDHC card from Amazon for around $30. Cheaper if you wait for the occasional deal.

I think the size limit should be at 100MB. It'll still be runnable under with the current system and it'll be MUCH better for game, since say monkey island wouldn't need to compress itself into a singularity point.
Well, recent reports indicate that DLC will stream direct from SDHC by-passing the copy to internal memory so I think it's entirely possible the same thing could happen with WiiWare/VC games in the future, but Nintendo would have to be satisfied they aren't opening up a new attack vector for hackers and pirates in the process.
As long as Nintendo disallows booting games from an SD card, they will not lift restrictions. Business decision-wise, the company is very conservative. They won't change it unless they feel that there is some reason to do so, particularly a big game that a developer wants to bring to it. I think they will not change it in the end, though. Piracy is already at a high level on Wii; allowing the booting of games on SD cards will just about seal the deal.
In the end, as long as the games can fit on a Wii system without a problem, then that's as high they can lift the restriction. In short, don't expect any more than 100MB limits at any time, unless Nintendo announces a special Wii with a flash harddrive of multiple gig on it, which I have severe doubt.
A 100MB limit would be enough in my opinion and shouldn't cause problems for Wii users to make sure they have 100MB free of internal memory. Even if it was on a basis that they kept the 40MB limit in place, but if a devoloper requests a extra 10MB, 40MB etc. for a specific game (e.g. Monkey Island would benefit from this) then Nintendo could grant this. Now they seem to be focusing on Wiiware more i think this would benefit everyone, developers would no longer have to worry if their game ends up being 43MB, consumers would be happier, Nintendo makes mo' money - Win,Win,Win
